Johnnie Miles Obituary

Johnnie Ernest Miles, Sr., former carpenter, real estate broker and retired Air Force MStg., died Saturday, September 20, 2003 at St. Charles General Hospital. He was 89 years. Mr. Miles was born in Calvert, Texas and lived in New Orleans, LA for the past 62 years. He was a member of New Zion Baptist Church where he served as Deacon, member of Sunday School, Youth Study Outreach Program, Benevolent Society, Trojans Club, Brotherhood, Usher Board and former Trustee member. He was a 33rd degree Mason with the Most Worshipful John G. Jones Grand Loge. Husband of the late Elizabeth Bosley Miles. He is survived by: a son, Johnnie E. Miles, Jr.; three daughters: Karol Pembrick, Linda Barthe' and Norma McCormick; 14 grandchildren: Felicia P. Ceaser, Tyrone, Roland, Erlinda, Elizabeth and Keith Pembrick, Loran and Lance McCormick, Jontell, Lucretia, Johnnie III Miles, Imani Phillips, Albert and Jennifer Barthe'; 17 great-grandchildren; a niece, Margaret Leron Watson of Detroit, Michigan; a devoted adopted son, Raymond Simmons of Baton Rouge, LA; and a host of devoted relatives and friends. Family and friends are invited to attend the funeral to be held on Wednesday, September 24, 2003 at 11:00 a.m. at New Zion Baptist Chuirch, 2319 Third Street. Visitation will be from 9:00 a.m. until service time. Interment will be at Providence Memorial Park. UNITED FUNERAL HOME in charge.
