Sadly, I know Joe only through the stories regaled by my brother, Greg, and the many DKEs I was honored to call my friends from the college years until present. I know from the love of his DKE brothers and scores of friends that Joe was an amazing man - kind, gentle, hilarious, generous, and loving - a man who was looked up to and admired by all. It pains me tremendously that I never got to know him personally, for it seems that men like him but seldom come into our lives and touch us so deeply. I am so, so very sorry for your loss of your son and brother. You are in my prayers.

I am terribly saddened by this news. Joe was my best friend at the tender age of nine, and I just loved all the times we spent together.

I thought about him often even after I departed to other schools, and I was thrilled when he wrote me a couple years ago. I am so thankful that I got a chance to communicate with him before he left us, but even sadder that I won't have the opportunity to catch up in person as he invited me to.

I wish to thank him for his companionship and the very positive, happy influence he was upon me as we grew up together. And to his family that I so admired.

I am a DKE brother who only knew Joe briefly. He visited my home in Easton for homecoming many years ago and I enjoyed meeting him again. My heartfelt sympathy and prayers to you all.

I am so deeply saddened by the loss of such a tremendous person. Joe is and always was a perfect example of how everybody NEEDS to be--selfless, kind, and an absolute delight. Although I'd loss touch with Joe over the years, I will always remember his impressionable personality and vibrant smile. Please accept my sincere sympathy.

Mr. and Mrs. Blanes, Jenna and Justin,

I am so very sorry for your loss. Joe was one of those people who could make you laugh no matter how down you were. Joe and Joe Stella were the guys to convince me to move down the block from them in Hoboken. I shared many good times barbequeing, sharing a home cooked meal in the middle of the week, and building elaborate sets for the backyard parties on Park Avenue. Joe will be terribly missed as will his contagious laugh.

I am very saddened to hear of your loss and am praying for you to be granted courage and comfort. I, for one, will miss Joe's sweet smile that used to light up a room when he entered it. Everyone was glad to see him there. He will be surely missed. Please accept my condolences.

Mr. and Mrs. Blanes, Jenna and Justin,

I am so sorry. Joe was a wonderful person. I was lucky enough to share a lot of great times with Joe over the years. There was no one better to run around Hoboken, New York, Vegas, or New Orleans with. Talking to Joe also helped me when Joe Stella died and I am very grateful to him for that. I will miss him and will always remember him as one of the most fun guys to be around that I ever met.
