Joseph Mitchell Chambers

In the tranquility of the early morning hours, Joseph Mitchell Chambers, age 96 answered his Heavenly Father's call to come home on Wednesday, December 10, 2003. His Homegoing Celebration commemorating his life will be held on Saturday, December 20, 2003 at 10:00 A.M. at First New St. Mark Baptist Church, 1208 S. Lopez Street with the Rev. Sylvester Williams, Officiating. Visitation from 8:00 A.M. until the hour of service. Interment St. Louis #3 Cemetery and Mausoleum. Relatives and friends of the family are invited to attend. He leaves to cherish his many precious memories: His two sons, Lawrence H. Chambers of New Orleans, LA and Joseph Chambers of Lompoc, CA, one Stepson Louis Sullivan of New Orleans, LA, three daughters Lois C. Berry and Barbara C. Flowers of New Orleans, LA and Delores Chambers of Hawthorne, CA, six stepdaughters Rose Douglas, Yvonne Lazard and Lucy S. Louis of New Orleans, LA, Marion S. Keller and Cora S. Kelly of Chicago, IL and Marie Camocho of Pass Christian, MS., 44 grandchildren, 66 great grandchildren and 8 great-great grandchildren and a host of other relatives and friends. He was preceded in death by his parents: Wyatt Chambers and Ida Treme Chambers.
