Joyce Hodges Obituary

Joyce Torres Hodges, 87, loving wife of the late Joseph C. Hodges, went to be with her Lord and Savior on Thursday, January 25, 2018, surrounded by her loving family. A native New Orleanian, Joyce graduated from John McDonogh Girls Senior High School and studied business locally. For over 40 years she lived in Arabi, La., and after Hurricane Katrina, relocated to Denham Springs, La. She was a member of Greenwell Springs Baptist Church. Her final days were spent in Slidell, La. Preceded in death by her parents, Herbert and Caroline "Carrie" Torres; brother, Herbert A. Torres Jr.; and sister, Jo Ann Torres Mastio. A wonderful mother to her children, Bonnie Gagliano (Timothy), Diana "Dee" Wild (Donald), and Robin Roberson (John); she was MawMaw to her grandchildren, Corey Walker (Tabetha), Cheryl Hardouin (Jamie), Kylie Roberson, and the late Joseph Wild, as well to her great-grandchildren Blake Walker, Mikayla Hardouin, Piper Hardouin, and Ashlyn Pedeaux. Family and friends are invited to attend the Funeral Service at 1:00 pm on Wednesday, January 31, 2018, at JACOB SCHOEN & SON, 3827 Canal Street, New Orleans, La. Visitation will begin at 12:00 pm and continue until service time. Interment will follow at Greenwood Cemetery in New Orleans. In lieu of flowers, please consider donations to Samaritan's Purse Ministries (SamaritansPurse.org) or the Christian Church of your choice.
