Kathleen Duplantis Obituary

DUPLANTIS Kathleen Ryan Duplantis passed away early Tuesday morning, December 11, 2007. Mrs. Duplantis died peacefully at her home in Loranger, LA. Born October 24, 1934, in New Orleans, LA, she was the daughter of the late Riley Ray and Josephine Jeanne Andree Ader Ryan. She was also preceded in death by a brother Riley Ray Ryan, and two sisters Patricia and Georgia Ryan. She is survived by her beloved husband Lawrence "Larry" Joseph Duplantis, Jr. and their three children, Jeanne Duplantis Miranne and husband Marc Miranne of New Orleans, LA, Suzanne Duplantis and her husband Kevin McDowell of Philadelphia, PA, and Lawrence Joseph Duplantis, III and wife Dana Bayer Duplantis of Metairie, LA. She is also survived by eight grandchildren: Alexandre, Nicholas, Maximilian, and Fei Miranne; Mei and Lily McDowell; and Ryan and Corinne Duplantis, two sisters Marie R. Bloemer and Joan R. Waelde, and a host of nieces and nephews. Kathleen Duplantis was a teacher and administrator for the New Orleans Public Schools for over 30 years. After retiring from Orleans Parish, she moved to Philadelphia, PA and became the Executive Director of Green Tree School for Exceptional Children in Philadelphia for 11 years. Upon her return to the Greater New Orleans area, she worked as a consultant for the New Orleans Public Schools Exceptional Children Services until August 2005. Relatives and friends are invited to attend her Funeral Service at St. Mary Magdalen Catholic Church, 6425 West Metairie Avenue, Metairie, LA, on Friday, December 21, 2007. Visitation from 11:00 AM - 1:00 PM. Funeral mass at 1:00 PM. Interment will follow mass at Metairie Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, donations through the New Orleans Public Schools to the Kathleen Duplantis Endowment Fund for Exceptional Children, 3520 General DeGaulle Drive, New Orleans, LA 70114 would be greatly appreciated.
