Kenneth Dwyer Obituary

Kenneth Stephen Dwyer passed away unexpectedly at age 74. Ken is survived by his loving wife, Laurence Moise Dwyer and his children Rogers Cason Dwyer (Emily) of Richmond, VA; Arden Dwyer Crozer (William) of Atlanta, GA; and Claire Dwyer Koehler (Jeff) of Wilson, NC; and his grandchildren Dorothy Jane "Dolly" and Paul Cason Dwyer of Richmond; William Flowers Crozer, Jr of Atlanta; and Luke Jeffrey and Emmeline Claire "Emme" Koehler of Wilson. Ken is survived also by his sisters and brother: Kay Sheldon (Curt) of Chattanooga, TN; Karen Hulett (Bill) of Madison, MS; Kevin Dwyer (Cindy) of Monroe, LA; Kerri Battaglia (Sam) of Kenner, LA; and Kim Cason (Kyle) of Metairie, LA. He is further survived by his many nieces and nephews and their children. Ken is predeceased by his parents, Louis Stephen Dwyer and Melba Bacon Dwyer. Born in New Orleans, Ken grew up in McComb, MS. He attended St. Alphonsus Catholic School and McComb High School. For four wonderful years, he attended the University of Mississippi and earned an accounting degree from the University of New Orleans. Though he had a successful career in accounting and finance in New Orleans and North Carolina, Ken loved most the time that he spent with his wife, children, and grandchildren. He was a devoted fan of Ole Miss sports, the New Orleans Saints, and the Houston Astros. Ken loved travel, especially the planning of it, whether it was close by or far away. Throughout his life, Ken looked to serve others. He was active in his children's schools and sports teams, as well as his church. Family and friends will miss his broad smile and warmth, and his sense of humor. Relatives and friends are invited to attend the Funeral Mass at 12 noon on Saturday, November 2, 2024, in the Chapel of Lake Lawn Metairie Funeral Home, 5100 Pontchartrain Blvd, New Orleans, LA. A visitation will be held at the funeral home beginning at 11:00 am. In lieu of flowers, donations to the following are kindly appreciated: The National World War II Museum, 945 Magazine St, New Orleans, LA 70134; or to St. Pius the X Catholic Church "for the benefit of those in need in the Greensboro, NC community, in memory of Ken Dwyer", 2208 N Elm St, Greensboro, NC 27408. Dear Laurance,

I am shocked and so sad to read of Ken's unexpected death. I can't believe it. He was such a lovely man--sweet, fun to be with, warm, kind--I treasure my memories of our time together as young parents so many years ago. Cocktails in the backyard while the kids played--nothing better!

I'm so sorry we can't be at his funeral as we will be out of town. I'm sending you all my love and praying for you to be comforted during this time of such sorrow.
