Kenneth Hall Obituary

Kenneth Joseph "Big Poppa" Hall, Sr., was born on August 2, 1961, in New Orleans, LA to the union of the late Joseph A. Hall and Cecile "Marion" Ferdinand Pierce. Stepson of the late August Pierce, Sr. Kenneth was united in Holy Matrimony to Deidra Smoot Hall and their union was blessed with one child, the late Kenneth Joseph Hall, Jr. On Monday, August 30, 2021, Heaven dispatched his angels and gave Kenneth "Big Poppa" his final wings and called him home. He has taken on a new role of "Guardian Angel" watching over us in heaven as he has completed his journey on earth. Mr. Hall was educated in the Jefferson Parish public school system. Kenneth leaves to cherish loving memories, his wife of 37 years, Deidra Smoot-Hall; two daughters, Macey Ussin and Delisha Deason Odoms (Hernando); one son, Deshawn Deason; six grandchildren D'Janae, Dyja and Dajon Odom, Deshawn and Devin Deason and Darrell Dixon; two great-grandchildren, Donte and Dallas Woods; mother, Cecile Pierce; two sisters, Lisa Beaco and Joan Hall-Evans; four sisters-in-law, Cassandra, Toni, Nicole Smoot and Tanya Joseph; three brothers, Joseph A. Hall, Jr., August Joseph Pierce, Jr., (Karla) and Brent Ferdinand; two brothers-in-law, Jeffery Harris and Cary Smoot; a devoted friend, Bobby Barker; devoted cousin, Charles Hall, a host of aunts, uncles, cousins, nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.Kenneth was a member of the Westbank Steppers Social Aid and Pleasure Club, a dedicated chef at Dillard University, Southern University at New Orleans (SUNO) and Sodexo. All are invited to attend a Celebration service honoring the life and legacy of Mr. Kenneth Joseph "Big Poppa" Hall, Sr., at St. Stephen Baptist Church 1738 L. B. Landry Avenue, New Orleans, LA 70114 on Saturday, September 18, 2021, at 11 AM. Interment Restlawn Park Cemetery and Mausoleum, 3540 US-90 Avondale, Louisiana 70094. Visitation 9 am in the church. Due to COVID-19 restrictions, seating in the church is limited. Everyone in attendance is required to wear a face mask and practice social distancing at all times. Strictly enforced.
