Kenneth Killian Obituary

Kenneth John Killian joined the angels in Heaven on Christmas day. He was born on November 11, 1939, in Hotel Dieu and lived all his life, other than during his Army service, in the New Orleans area. Married to the former Edna Killian for 59 years, they have five beloved children: Karen, Sherri (Robert), Lee (Rachel), Kyle, and Jade, and four wonderful grandchildren: Samantha, Emma, Avery, and Jenna. His final working years were spent at Michoud with Boeing, Martin-Marietta, and Lockheed-Martin as a quality-control engineer. He was most proud of his participation in the building of the Apollo 11 which took the first men to the moon. Always carrying a camera, he and Edna were fortunate to have able to travel, visiting 47 states and several foreign countries. He volunteered as the "picture-taker" for NORSI for several years. His own quote: "It has been a great time." Services will be held at St. Clement Catholic Church on Thursday, January 5th, with visitation at 10:00 A.M., followed by Mass at 11:00. Internment will take place at a later date. In lieu of flowers, masses or a donation in his name to the American Legion are preferred.

On behalf of the Brothers of the Sacred Heart Alumni Association and Brother Martin High School, I offer our prayers and condolences. We will say a Mass in his memory.

Father of all, we pray to you for him and all those we love but see no longer. Grant to them eternal rest. Let light perpetually shine upon them. May his soul and the souls of all the departed, through the mercy of God, rest in peace.

I have known Kenneth for many years. He was a member of the class with my older sister at Sacred Heart High School. Later after my own graduation from Sacred Heart and member of the Alumni, I worked closely with Ken. I remember him as a very generous person giving his all to his family and friends. He was an important member of the Alumni Association.

Ken was a great coworker of mine at Lockheed Martin. He is also a distant neighbor on Hastings.
