i have more memories Kevin...his care of his pool. After school and camp, he was at the pool...making sure it was working at it's optimal level; as many responsibilities as he had...he took care of that...and, it was not a small task...he loved swimming.

My deepest sympathies are extended to the France family. I have recently moved and just found out. The world has truly lost a dedicated and wonderful teacher and man. I got to know Kevin working at Kehoe-France after Katrina. We both were the last to leave each night and he always stopped and looked in to make sure I was leaving and was alright. He was such a proud papa and husband. My prayers and thoughts are with his family and friends.

Kevin's passion for learning taught me the critical thinking--in the best sense of the phrase--that set me on the path to becoming who I am today. Sounds cliché, but it's true, and I'm ever grateful for it. It really was great stuff he taught, and he'll be sorely missed.

I was blessed to know Mr. France for a short time during 8th grade. I still remember his enthusiam for US History. His family and friends are definitely in my prayers. The teacher I am today is in part due to the love he had for us. As a coach, he provided great insight and helped develop the talent he saw in each of us. In my mind, I will always remember his smile.

I was very surprised and saddened to hear of Kevin's passing. After spending 17 years at Kehoe-France between attending school from K-8th and then working as a camp counselor, I felt very close to the entire France Family. Kevin was always a large part of that and I will cherish the memories.....how he made history come alive, how he cheered me on as my swim and basketball coach, as well as all of the fun working with him at camp.
My sincerest condolenses go out to the entire France Family.

as a former kehoe-france day camp counselor i remember kevin as an active twelve year old "down the river swimmer"; i don't know how many miles he logged but he touched the lives of more people than the miles he swam. as father of "93 class valedictorian , rebecca gordon , i came to know just how much a paositive role model that kevin was, he encouraged her to be a critical thinker and she came to love history as not just remembering dates and battles. god bless you kevin, tricia and family! we certainly all share in your loss. wayne gordon

Kevin - Do you remember how Kyle wanted you to be her private swim coach? You were such a great coach and an even better cheerleader for her. She truly became a better swimmer under your direction.
Kyle had a swim meet on Friday and she said she was going to swim for you. Not only did she win ALL of her events, she qualified for Zones. I know you had to be there for her, cheering her on. I know she wanted you to know this.
Kevin, thank you for all the laughs we shared during my subbing days. Some days I didn't think I would make it through and then you would show up with that infectious smile. How could anyone have a bad day after that!
Thank you for all the words of encouragement that you said to Kyle. Thank you for being her friend. One of the things she was saddest about with moving to NY was that she would not have you for her teacher. She knew it would have been great - in many ways.
Thanks for the memories......
Love, Lori and Kyle Sanders

I am deeply sorry to hear of Kevin France's passing. He was still so young and full of vitality and he had so much to give to future students and his family. Kevin France was a wonderful history teacher and a great man. He had a wonderful sense of humor and a style all his own. I remember writing history papers for his class and he always made every new topic seem so interesting.
My thoughts and prayers go out to all of his family, especially his wife and children. Kevin will be greatly missed but he will live on in all of our memories and so he will live on forever.

Mr. France, I will keep you and your family in my prayers at this difficult time. Kevin was by far my favorite teacher at K-F. Without him, I never would have learned how to take notes, or have the tremendous appreciation for history that I try to instill in my children. He was truly a gifted teacher and a wonderful person. Although I haven't seen him since I graduated in 1981, I miss him terribly.

What can notes like this say about Kevin? a friend, a mentor and inspiration to my children, a co-conspirator as day camp counselors, a coach, a father, a husband, a son, a brother -- all of these but more than any of these. Kevin had humor and he had a social conscience. He loved history, and he helped others want to make their own histories. As these notes by so many people show, Kevin touched so many lives in so many ways.
I think Abe Lincoln's words say what Kevin's time with us meant: "And in the end it's not the years in your life that count. It's the life in your years."
We will remember all Kevin's life was for us as long as we can remember.

I am so sorry for your loss and wish you peace and comfort.

I literally grew up with Coach Kevin and the France family. I have too many memories to try to share here, but my time with Coach Kevin helped to define who I am. He instilled in me a sense of respect for myself, for others, and for the world. Learning that lesson early in life has been invaluable to me.

Kevin was without a doubt the best teacher I ever had. His enthusiasm for history, for Kehoe, for life, was apparent in his smile and sparkle in his eye. His personality invited students to learn and made them want to learn. He was a first mentor to many, always teaching and guiding students with patience and support. I will never forget him and the Kehoe-France family. It is to them that I credit the strength and confidence I left school with in May of 1982. My family's thoughts and prayers are with you all, especially his wife and children. As a wife and parent myself, I know he loved you more than anything. Don't ever forget that. God bless you Mr. Frank. The Montz Family (Marlene, Sid III, JoAnn and Sidney).

I am terribly saddened by such a tremendous loss. Kevin was a great teacher and mentor. Of the 27 years I spent in school, 12 of them at Kehoe France, he is one of two teachers who touched my life. I remember him helping me select the music for my 8th grade dance and us dancing to Otis Redding at the dance. He had a beautiful soul.

Many teachers teach well; Kevin did it exceptionally. He taught history in a way that showed his students that the material was important and interesting to learn. He tested students not to show them how much they didn't know but to point out how much they had learned and to encourage them to learn more.
In the four years that I taught with Kevin, there was not one time that I encountered him that he did not greet me by name and with a smile. He afforded each student, each teacher, and each parent the same consideration -- and always with his distinctive booming voice.
As a parent I saw that Kevin treated all students at Kehoe-France with respect and kindness -- even those who did not excel in academics or athletics. The outpouring of emotion at this difficult time shows just how many lives he touched and the positive influence he had on generations of Kehoe-France students and their families.
May Coach Kevin rest in peace. May all of us live with a little more kindness and enthusiasm in our hearts for having known him.

Coach Kevin has always been a prominent figure from my childhood. He was an exceptional role model, always cheering us on from the sidelines, challenging us to be our best, and caring about us every step of the way. I have always held Kehoe-France in high regards for molding my character, and Kevin France was a big part of that. He is surely missed by all who had the privledge to know him. The France Family has always had a special place is my heart and in the hearts of my family. I have known the family since 1967 when I first worked at camp. My mother worked as a pre-k teacher and then as one of the secretaries. My husband is a Scout leader. Both of our children graduated from that great school-Erin in 2000, and Kyle in 2004. The educational foundation they received there prepared them so well for high school and college. Kevin was their favorite teacher, and coach. He made history come alive for his students, and never forgot to show that he cared about each and every one of them. I am proud to say that he was my friend. Our prayers will always be with Mr. France, Kelly, Kyle, Kie, Tricia, Molly, Emily and Patrick.

Two things that I will never forget - "It's Good To Be The King" and he was the one that taught me how to do a "kick turn"!! I am an 8th grader at Kehoe-France and although I was only blessed to have a few weeks of Coach Kevin's history classes I will miss him a lot. He had a huge presence. I will always miss hearing his keys jingle as he walked down the hallway, him giving me a high five or fist as I was leaving school everyday, and his amazing history class. I wasn't on the swim team or any other teams he coached and now I wish I had been. As Coach Kevin always said "Plan for the worst and hope for the best." I have his family in my prayers and I will never forget Coach Kevin.

This is a tremendous loss for the France family and the students of Kehoe-France. I will keep all of you in my thoughts and prayers in this time of grieving. On a personal level, this has been a very hard blow that I did not expect. However, it has made me reflective on my past at Kehoe-France and the time I spent with Kevin. One word describes his effect on me as a person and a teacher, inspiring. He inspired me to be a better student and a better writer. He challenged me in ways that my young mind was able to grasp on to. He made learning fun. He was the greatest teacher that I ever had, and I'm just not talking about History.

I know Coach Kevin inspired all of his students. He had a way about him that was strong. I always admired his strong passion for teaching. He inspired me to coach basketball after having played for him & the Lady Pioneers basketball team for 3 years. He used to always tell us "erase can't from your vocabulary!" And of course, "I'll dance at your wedding". I have been coaching girls basketball for Greenlawn Playground for the past 4 years. He made history class fun & interesting. I am in complete shock over this loss. He will truly be remembered for all of the lives he has touched. He was a big part of the Kehoe-France family which I am proud to be a part of. I spent 10 wonderful years of my life at Kehoe-France and owe it all to Coach Kevin. My heart and deepest condolences go out to Mrs. Betty, Mrs. Tricia, Molly, Emily, Patrick, Mr. France, Kyle, Kelly, Kie, and the rest of the France family. Kehoe-France has given all who attended something special. I can't imagine growing up at a different school. It's hard to explain to those who did not have the privilege of attending how much love, dedication, and attention the Frances give to their students. Coach Kevin was an exceptionally kind, fun, funny, dedicated, and loving coach and teacher who will be missed by all lucky enough to have known him. He touched my life in a way that will not be forgotten. My deepest sympathy goes out to all of the France family during this difficult time.

When I think of Kehoe-France I automatically think of Coach Kevin("papa" to the class of 2006)
He was always there, no matter what. Tennis practice, swim practice, history class, lunch, recess, intermurals, you name it he was there. We could always count on him for whatever we needed, when I had a bad day the first person I would go to would be Coach Kevin he always found a way to cheer me up, whether it be from his extremely loud amazing high strong excited personality to his contagious smile and warm loving heart. He was a man of no comparison. He will be missed, and forever loved by his ever greatful students, whom he treated as one of his own children.
I love you Coach Kevin! You have no idea how much you have impacted my life!

Yesterday's service was so moving for me. I did not have the honor of having Kevin as a teacher as I was the class of '78 but my brother had Kevin as teacher and Coach and I would always hear those stories. Seeing "old" Mr. France today brought tears of heartache and joy at the same time. Everytime I see him, he tells me about something funny either me or one of my classmates did. He has an unbelievable memory. My daughter had the honor of attending the Northshore campus for 4 years and I still consider the Kehoe-France family my family as well. Seeing fellow classmates and reminiscing about what KF meant to us is truly a testiment about the legacy that KF will forever leave to this community.
May God bless the entire France family and may we all remember what a better place this is and better people we are for having the honor of knowing Kevin and the rest of the France family.

My thought and prayers go out to the France family. Kevin taught me all about the Civil War at Kehoe in the early 80's. He was the teacher that made me realize the importance of history. He was always kind, helpful, and inspirational. I will never forget him.

All of the family shall be in my thoughts and prayers. When first attending Loyola, Kevin and I were good friends and often played tennis together. We then went in different directions yet stayed friends. My childeren attended Kehoe-France and were blessed to have him as a teacher and friend.

I'll remember Kevin as the glue that held our senior class (Sam Barthe Class '72) together. He was always upbeat, always organzing. He was always smiling. Even after so much time has passed, we will miss him.

Kevin will be greatly missed and warmly remembered by the thousands whose lives he touched. He was a truly good man and a gifted educator, who inspired his students with a love of learning and encouraged them to not only seek knowledge, but also honor and truth. Although it has been over two decades since my three children, (Ted and Michael Butler and Kyle Kehoe), graduated from Kehoe France, they all credit him with being the teacher who most influenced them. I am forever grateful for the contributions that Kevin made to my children’s education and character, and will hold in my heart the many warm memories that I have of him. I send my deepest condolences to Frank and to the entire France and Kehoe families.

Kevin France taught me to swim way back in 1971. He was my history teacher in Junior High. He was always so encouraging and enthusiastic and helped me believe in myself. He was at the heart of Kehoe-France and was such a big part of what makes it such a great school. He will be missed by many, many people whose lives he has touched. May God bless the entire Kehoe-France family in this difficult time.

Mr. Kevin France was my teacher, my coach on the swim team that won that year, as well as many years, and later...my friend.
He was always glad to see me, as he was always genuinely glad to see his students...as he always greeted us with a smile.
And, after I graduated, I would visit, and he would always be glad to see me...as with all other students.
And, we could always "pick up" where our conversation ended the last time or carry on as we normally did...
And I clearly remember his approach to teaching and knowledge of the subject matter...both were designed by him to engage his students as far as they were able to be engaged...
As many years as I attended school and camp, I must attribute my success in life to my experiences at Kehoe-France School and Camp; my developmental experiences and foundations would never have occured had my parents not recognized the value Mr. and Mrs. France placed on education and the overall growth of an individual.
My appreciation goes to "Big" Mr. France, Miss Pat, Miss Betty, Kelly, Kyle, and Kie and Mr. Rooney. Looking back, I would not trade those years for anything...I had so much fun and I learned so much.
I will always remember my interactions with Kevin. He is always going to be someone I will remember as being genuine and passionate toward his students' well being and education...he advocated for all of us.
My thoughts are with Tricia and Molly and Emily and Patrick...and his family.

My thoughts and prayers are with the France family during this difficult time. Kevin France was the most inspiring teacher a child could ever have. He made us work very hard because he knew his students could handle it. As he was a great leader and teacher in the classroom he was also a great coach. I was privileged to be coached by Kevin as well as be his student and I will never forget the life lessons he bestowed on me in all the years I attended Kehoe-France. He made my time there memorable. He will be greatly missed. To your lovely wife and beatiful children, please stay strong in this hard time. I am in a unique position to understand what your going through now as my father passed away just two months ago, and it still feels like yesterday. Please stay strong as will I. Class of '95.

To the entire France Family,
I am so sorry for your loss. Kevin has been an inspiration to so many people, he was without a doubt one of the best teachers that I ever had. I pray that God will ease your suffering, so many people are praying for the same.

Kevin was the glue that held Kehoe-France together. He played so many roles (teacher, counselor, coach, father, mentor, brother, son, husband, role model, care taker, friend, disciplinarian, motivator, etc..) He did so much for the school, students, and his family.
The images that come to mind when I think of Kevin was his kind-heartedness as he spoke to me when my family and I were going through a rough time. Then, there was this other energizer bunny side of him in the classroom and at his favorite sporting events. I can picture him now, teaching our class history, raising his voice with excitement and flailing his arms to make his point. I can also see him by the pool and in the gym yelling to the students to push them to finish, to improve, and to learn so that they could be better at the sports he so loved.
May each of you help to carry out his important different roles so his spirit will be carried on forever at home, in the classroom, at family affairs, and at his favorite sporting events.

Well it was a tough day at Kevin's service today.
Having been taught by Kevin and the family for many years back in the 70's, my family and I have such fond memories. An incredible teacher, mentor and person.
We were fortunate to entrust our children to the France's as well.
Kyle was right - the France family is strong - all several thousand of us out here. God Bless.

To Mr. France(the original),
Seeing you today was wonderful and heartbreaking all at once. I was there to support you and your family, but your words to me touched my very soul. It was as though my father was there again. I came to comfort you and you turned it into a cheering session for my success in life which is directly a result of you and my years at Kehoe-France. I thought I was all grown up, but you reduced me to a little girl again in seconds, once again waiting to receive my report card. You and your family mean more to me than I can express. I wish I could remove your pain. Please know that all of you have had A TREMENDOUS INFLUENCE on so many lives. What greater legacy can anyone possibly leave behind. Thank you so much.

One of the things I loved most about Kevin was his ability to make every child feel like they were his favorite. I will miss him more than I can say.

I am so sad and filled with immense heartache to hear of the loss of a truly caring and loving individual. Coach Kevin will be truly missed. Its a privilege to have been his student and to have been coached by him while on the swim team. I will never forget all his helpful advice in troubling times and his enthusiasm for teaching. Who can forget about a teacher that let his students shave his head? Coach Kevin touched many people's lives and will always be remembered.
