Kevin Eugene Nixon

1959 - 2018

Kevin Eugene Nixon was born June 25, 1959, in the city of New Orleans, Louisiana. He was the fifth child born to Southern Nixon Jr. and Willie Mae Jones. He accepted the Lord at an early age and was baptized at St. John Institutional Missionary Baptist Church in New Orleans, Louisiana. During Kevin's early years, he attended school in the Jefferson Parish School System. He enjoyed fishing, dancing, and spending time with his family. Family was one of Kevin's priorities and he took pleasure helping to provide and help his family. In 2005, he married Carol Nixon. Kevin was known for making people laugh and his exceptional skills of second line dancing. He participated in many parades, and was a member of the Scene Booster Social and Pleasure Club. Kevin was a 'Jack of All Trades.' He worked for Virginia Transportation Company where he held a commercial license to drive trucks, and he also worked for Mark's Paper Company. Kevin was very entrepreneurial and some of his trades included lawn care, painting homes, construction, and moving services. On February 6, 2018, Kevin Nixon was called to his heavenly home. He was preceded in death by his mother Willie Mae Jones; his aunt Dorothy ""Aunt Dot"" Rancifer; his brother Dwight ""Button"" Nixon. He leaves to mourn his father, Southern Nixon Jr. (Ruthie) of Atlanta, GA; two children, Kwana Johnson-Bryant (Jonathan) of New Orleans, LA; Kevin Crandle of New Orleans, LA, two stepchildren Keyana and Allen (PeeWee) both of New Orleans, LA; three siblings Debra Strane and Dionne Nixon of Sacramento, CA; Gregory Nixon Sr. of Marrero, LA; stepbrother Dwayne Nixon of Sacramento, CA; four uncles, James Thomas (Lucille) of New Orleans, LA; Henry Nixon (Alice) of San Diego, CA; Elward Thomas (Martha) of Redwood City, CA; Harrison Thomas of Inglewood, CA, two aunts, Patricia Owens and Naomi Tucker (Aaron) of Sacramento, CA; four grandchildren, Jonathan Bryant, Jordan Bryant, Jayden Bryant, and Josiah Bryant all of New Orleans, LA; and a host of cousins, nieces, and nephews. Relatives and friends of the family, also Pastor, Officers and Members of Willing Workers Baptist Church, 2715 Washington Ave., are invited to attend the Visitation on Saturday February 17, 2018 at Willing Workers Baptist Church, 2715 Washington Ave., from 10:00 a.m. to 11:00 a.m. Followed by Funeral Services at 11:00 a.m. Private Burial.
