Kevin Orlando

Kevin Peter Orlando, age 63 of Marrero, passed away at his home on October 15, 2022. Kevin was preceded in death by his parents, Charles Thomas Orlando and Marian Aleman Orlando, as well as his brother-in-law Corbett Louis Ourso, Jr. He is survived by his sisters, Karen Orlando Martinez and Kay Orlando Ourso, and his brother, Kirt Edward Orlando (Jennie Monteleone Orlando) as well as many nieces and nephews. Kevin graduated from Archbishop Shaw High School in Marrero, Louisiana in 1977 and thereafter completed courses in Construction Technology from Louisiana State University and Delgado Community College in New Orleans, where he completed certifications in Heating, Ventilation, Air Conditioning and Refrigeration Engineering Technology. He was also certified by the City of New Orleans as a 2nd Class Boiler Stationary Engineer. In the span of his career, he worked at Entergy from 1985-1995 doing substation construction and maintenance. From 1995-2004, Kevin was the chief engineer of the Queen and Crescent Hotel of New Orleans during construction and start up of the Main and Annex Buildings. From 2004-2015, he was chief engineer at the Ambassador Hotel in New Orleans where he oversaw the renovation of 165 rooms. From 2015-2018, he worked as a freelance contractor, and from 2018-2022, Kevin worked as a Stationary/Plant Engineer at Touro Infirmary. Kevin had many interests. He was the 1990 Mr. New Orleans and was active in the Italian-American Club, the New Orleans Runners' Association, and was a Corvette and music enthusiast. Kevin will be remembered for his kindness and his willingness to give of himself to others. Relatives and friends are invited to attend a visitation on Saturday, October 29, 2022 at Greenwood Funeral Home, 5200 Canal Boulevard, New Orleans, Louisiana beginning at 10:30am, followed by the funeral Mass at 1:00pm.
