I was deeply saddened to hear about the loss of Kristin. We were very good friends for a few years in elementary school in Los Angeles. My memory of Kristin will always be that she was not a shy girl. She was outgoing and liked to have fun. I will never forget the walk we took after school to the Honore family's restaurant in Leimert Park. We would always ask for shrimp po boy sandwiches... and the times we went shopping at Buddha market on Slauson Ave for soda, chips, and candy... and Mrs. Honore driving us around in the family's Volkswagen bus. We lost touch with each other after grade school, but I will always remember the fun times Kristin and I had together. I will always love and miss her as I am sure everyone who knew her will.
My condolences go out to the Honore and Perkins family.

My Beloved Cousin,

You are “Truly” missed !!!

We were both so Blessed to have had the opportunity to speak with each other every single day about everything in life from A to Z . God must have invented Unlimited Long Distance Calling just for Us.
You were such a Great Example for anyone that crossed your path. You covered all bases, dotted all of your I’s and crossed all of your T’s … “You Exceeded all Expectations”. You were always prepared for any and everything. You lived each and everyday to the Fullest with no regrets ! Knowing that about you, somehow I know deep down inside that this crossing over didn’t take you by surprise either. With your daily actions in life, I know that you are with the Lord Jesus Christ. We ended every single phone call with “ I Love You” . You were the “Bestess Sister Cousin” any female could have ever had or even asked for. I never imagined our journey ending so soon, But I am so glad we enjoyed everyday together via telephone. Not only did you talk the talk but you walked the walk. You are my “HERO” .

Louis, Chase & myself will never forget you, “We Love you Krissy Luv” !!!!!!!!

Sincerely,

Your Sister Cousin

Dear Cousin,

How I wish I had a chance to share in the beautiful life you created for yourself and your family. I am so grateful to God to learn of the fine young woman you grew up to be. So happy to hear you reached some of the goals we dreamed about when we were giggling little girls. So proud to learn of the strength and vision you had to keep your family united.

I promise to look in on your Mom and family and do my best to keep our families connected. You will remain in my heart forever.

P.S. Give my Son a hug and kiss for me please.

Love always and God bless you.

To The Love of My Life,

I never thought in a million years I would be with out you. This has been the hardest thing I ever had to face. I thank the Lord we had the time we had in each others lives. I wish we had more time to be together, we had so many goals to accomplish along with so many dreams. I know you are enjoying the glitter and gold of heaven. That was something you talked about so much and I know you were prepared to enter heaven. I remember the first day we meet, you walking down the street and me riding a bike it seems like yesterday, however, that was 22 years ago. Not to many people will share the love you and I had, it was true. We always talked about growing old together, how we were going to travel the world. You know once we set our minds on something we always accomplished it. You were that driving force that got us through everything. I know I talked about you and your planning but every time you planned we succeeded. You brought me from the streets to the man I am today, I always thanked you for that but you being the person you are you never wanted credit for that. I wish I could turn back the hands of time so I can tell you I LOVE YOU face to face. I'm blessed you taught me how to love and you made it a point to tell me you loved me every night and every morning. That was our deal never go to bed mad and we lived by that. Baby you were strong minded, intelligent, beautiful both in and out, caring, loving, and most of all family oriented. I can sit here and talk about you forever, that's because you were my strength you kept me focused and grounded and because of that I LOVE YOU sooooooo much. I know I can't question God on why he elected you to come home, I just hope and pray he will elect me one day so we may be together again.

SGT Perkins,

First, I give glory to God and thank him for all he has done. Although words never seem to be merely enough, I hope they help in a very special way to ease the sense of loss you are experiencing today.

SGT P, remember to hold fast to your most cherished memories. Hold them close to your heart. For sure they will bring you much comfort while you are only temporarily apart. Hold fast to your precious thoughts. Precious thoughts of love can make you feel a very special way. They can make you feel proud even when you have no more words to say.

I would like to extend my deepest condolences to you and your family. Always, I will keep your family in my prayers and very close to my heart.

A FOREVER FRIEND

Sometimes in life, you find a special friend;

Someone who changes your life just by being part of it.

Someone who makes you laugh until you can't stop;

Someone who makes you believe that there really is good in the world.

Someone who convinces you that there really is an
unlocked door just waiting for you to open it.

This is Forever Friendship.

When you're down, and the world seems dark and empty,

Your forever friend lifts you up in spirit,

and makes that dark and empty world suddenly bright and full.

Your forever friend gets you through the hard times, the sad times, and the confused times.

If you turn and walk away, your forever friend follows.

If you lose your way, your forever friend guides you and
cheers you on.

Your forever friend holds your hand and tells you that
everything is going to be okay.

And if you find such a friend, you feel happy and complete,
because you need not worry,
You have a forever friend for life, and forever has no end.

Kris was such a special person, friend, and sister to me. She has brought much pleasure to all she came into contact with and will be very sadly missed.

I love her dearly and there is not a day that passes over that I don't think about her. She is truly missed in so many ways. She will forever be apart of my life.

I LOVE YOU KRIS.......FOREVER!

Dear Angela and Family,
May each of you be surrounded with gentleness and peace. Kristin now lives on in each of you.
I had the privilege of learning from Kristin, when she was in the 4th Grade, about Pralines and Gumbo. Kristin was so proud of her Mom and Dad's Restaurant and shared many delicious recipes with us. Kristin was a joyful person and loved life. She will be dearly missed. Know you are very specially in my prayrs.

Although I have never personally met Kristin, from reading all of these beautiful words from friends and family, I feel as though I have shared a piece of her life. My prayers go out to you and your family during this difficult time. I’ve had the chance to be blessed by your Angel during several phone calls and emails during a very difficult time in my life with my son. Kristin always offered her help and suggestions any time I needed. I will always remember her perky upbeat voice, “country” accent, and that contagious giggle. May the comfort of God’s arms hold you and your family during this time.

God be with you and your family always,

To the Family, I would like to express my deepest sympathy to all of you in your time of loss.I met Mrs. Perkins because my daughter attended Galvez Middle. I am proud to say that Mrs. Perkins made a lasting effect on my life and that of my daughter. It really impressed me to know that she cared about my duaghters education. I remember sharing with her one day about how I was contemplating accepting employment in CA, but I was worried that my daughter (Torrel) would not be able to handle the move and besides I was scared I never lived that far away from my family. Mrs. Perkins told me "look, Ms. Williams I am from CA. Go Ahead and take Torrel to Cali and give her an opportunity to be exposed to different things." She also told me that she thought the move would be good for my daughter's academic future. Mrs. Perkins had a unique way of making a person feel comfortable, besides she gave me hope when it came to my daughter's education. She told me she loved all of her students, but that she was especially hard on Torre'l because she was one of the few African American students at the school, and that she knew Torrel had great potenial. I really appreciated her belief in my chid. My grandmother used to have a saying "Be mindful how you treat people when you meet them, for somtimes we entertain angels and we may not be aware of it." This is true of Mrs.Perkins. Even though we shared brief moments in time she has had a significant impact on my child's (my family for that matter)life. I know that she will be watching over all those she loved and cared about, and because I know this I would like Mrs. Pekins to know that Torre'l Price is doing well in school, her grades are good and she loves CA. Mrs Perkins also had a pet peeve about students using incorrect grammer! Mrs. Perkins and I both used to fuss with Torre'l about this. Well Mrs Perkins I'm still fussing every now and then, but Torre'l is getting better at it. I will keep all of you in my prayers, be blessed and stay blessed. Mrs Perkins was a Beautiful person inside and out. Be proud to be apart of her legacy!

In My Pocket

I have memories in my pocket.
They rattle among the change.

My memories of you are treasures I carry wherever I go.

They are stored in bits and pieces, parts of a beautiful whole
They give me comfort when I think I am alone.

Yes, I have memories in my pocket, like so much other stuff I keep there.

But of all the treasures I have, it’s the memories of you that are the most precious.

Kim Bourgeois

September 8, 2007

To my dearest family, some things I'd like to say...
but first of all, to let you know, that I arrived okay.
I'm writing this from heaven. Here I dwell with God above.
Here, there's no more tears of sadness; here is just eternal love.

Please do not be unhappy just because I'm out of sight.
Remember that I'm with you every morning, noon and night.
That day I had to leave you when my life on earth was through,
God picked me up and hugged me and He said, "I welcome you."

It's good to have you back again; you were missed while you were gone.
As for your dearest family, they'll be here later on.
I need you here badly; you're part of my plan.
There's so much that we have to do, to help our mortal man."

God gave me a list of things, that he wished for me to do.
And foremost on the list, was to watch and care for you.
And when you lie in bed at night, the day's chores put to flight.
God and I are closest to you....in the middle of the night.

When you think of my life on earth, and all those loving years
because you are only human, they are bound to bring you tears.
But do not be afraid to cry; it does relieve the pain.
Remember there would be no flowers, unless there was some rain.

I wish that I could tell you all that God has planned.
But if I were to tell you, you wouldn't understand.
But one thing is for certain, though my life on earth is o'er.
I'm closer to you now, than I ever was before.

There are many rocky roads ahead of you and many hills to climb;
but together we can do it by taking one day at a time.
It was always my philosophy and I'd like it for you too...
that as you give unto the world, the world will give to you.

If you can help somebody who's in sorrow and pain,
then you can say to God at night......"My day was not in vain."
And now I am contented....that my life has been worthwhile,
knowing as I passed along the way, I made somebody smile.

So if you meet somebody who is sad and feeling low,
just lend a hand to pick him up, as on your way you go.
When you're walking down the street, and you've got me on your mind;
I'm walking in your footsteps only half a step behind.

And when it's time for you to go.... from that body to be free,
remember you're not going.....you're coming here to me.

Dear Perkins Family,
This is such sad, sad news. Mrs. Perkins was a teacher to my son at Central School a couple of years ago, but she was MORE than just that. She was so WONDERRFUL! She was an ANGEL! We were so VERY blessed by her presence. After she went to Galvez we continued to keep in touch through email, she had became a FRIEND, not only to me but to my son. We have moved recently, and I heard the news of her passing from my sister, I was devistated and SO saddened, this world has truley lost a beautiful loving genuine soul, a wonderful caring teacher, and WE have lost a friend. God bless you Mrs. Perkins surley you are looking upon us all with LOVE! Watch over us as you are now with the angels in heaven and our precious lord. YOU will NEVER be forgotten

If I call you my friend, then you are my friend. But, if I call you my brother, then that puts you closer to me than anyone else and most relatives. Tyrone you are my brother. You lost your wife and we lost our sister. She will always be in our memories and our hearts. God bless you, my niece and nephew and we will always be here for you all.
