Larry Avila Obituary

Larry John Avila aka "Larry Bird" in New Orleans, and "Larry Love" in New York City a Brooklyn, NY native entered into eternal rest on Wednesday, September 2, 2015, at age 51. He is the loving son of Santiago and Ernestina Avila and spouse of Theodora Skinner. He attended the New York City public school system then later relocated with his family to New Orleans, LA and continued on in the New Orleans public school system. He later served honorably in the National Guard. Throughout the years he travelled and resided in NY and LA. He is survived by five siblings Maximo, Kelvin, Annabelle, Audrey and Martin Avila, six nieces and nephews-Nadia, Patricia, Kelvin, Nigel, Zion and Amber and a host of relatives and friends. He was employed at Walmart in New Orleans, LA. All family & friends are invited to attend funeral service at the Gertrude Geddes Willis Funeral Home, 2120 Jackson Ave., New Orleans, LA 70113 on Tuesday, Sept. 8, 2015, visitations begins at 6:00 p.m.-9:00 p.m. He will travel to New York to be viewed in his hometown at Lawrence H. Woodward Funeral Home, 1 Troy Ave., Brooklyn, NY 11213 on Friday, September 11, 2014, visitation from 2:00 P.M.-7:30 P.M. Interment-Rosedale Memorial in Linden, NJ on Saturday. September 12, 2015.
