Larry Joe Gill

Sarasota - It is with deep sorrow and much love that we mourn the passing of Larry Joe Gill, 68, of Sarasota, Florida on July 5, 2021, after a short battle with kidney disease. Born April 7, 1953, Larry was a husband, father, papa, brother, uncle, cousin, nephew, and friend.

He will be remembered and deeply missed by his wife of 42 years, Karen; children: Dr. Joseph Gadson-Gill (Darnell), Jason Gill (Kristen) and Jessica Gill; Grandchildren: David, Allison, Riley, Jordan, Marley, Jameson and Zakari; Sister: Brenda Moseley; and numerous nieces, nephews, and cousins.

Larry was preceded in death by his mother, Hazel.

A jack-of-all-trades and true Mr. Fix-It, Larry never met an obstacle he couldn't overcome, a project he couldn't figure out at least half of, or a lawn mower that he couldn't get running as long as he took apart the carburetor. Larry always had the tool you needed, or the part you were missing, if he could just find where he left it. He mentored not only his own children, nieces and nephews, but also many children in Sarasota Little League and Sarasota Redskins Football. A dedicated father and grandfather, he went out of his way to never miss a practice, recital, performance or game. He took great pride in providing a better life for his children and he loved watching his grandchildren grow.

At Larry's request, there will be no service, however, there will be a celebration of life at the home of Mr. and Mrs. John Burnett, 11340 MJ Road, Myakka City, 3:00 PM, that of course he HAD to come up with an excuse not to attend. Although we know that he will be there in spirit to dance, one more time, to Right Said Fred's classic, "I'm too Sexy".
