Laurence Rudman Obituary

Laurence "Larry" David Rudman died peacefully in New Orleans on October 3, 2024, at the age of 88. He was preceded in death by his incredible wife of fifty-two years, Judith Bookman Rudman, and his parents, Sidney and Eleanore Rudman. He is survived by his two daughters, Tracy Rudman Berglass (David) and Melissa Rudman, both of Los Angeles, California, brother Dr. Richard Rudman (Carol), three wonderful Berglass grandchildren, Max, Chase and Ellie, and nieces Jyl Jackson (Adam) of Tampa, Florida and Alison Skidmore (Don) of Portland, Oregon. Larry was born in Richmond, Virginia and moved to New Orleans at eight years old. He was a graduate of Isidore Newman School and Tulane University where he received both undergraduate and Juris Doctor degrees as well as being a member of Sigma Alpha Mu Fraternity. He practiced law in his own firm for forty years. He was an active member of Gates of Prayer Synagogue for over fifty years, a voracious reader, especially W.E.B. Griffin novels, master crossword puzzler, and an avid sports fan, the New Orleans Saints in particular. In addition, he was a self-professed chocoholic, carnivore, Ben and Jerry's Phish Food ice cream connoisseur and terribly "allergic" to exercise. He lived life exactly as he wanted, following his own path, while enjoying friends and family along the way. He proudly carried on the legacy of unconditional love and support for his children and grandchildren, instilled by his own parents, which will now endure for generations to come. A Graveside Service will be held on Sunday, October 6, 2024 at 10:30 a.m. at Gates of Prayer Cemetery, 1428 Joseph Street, New Orleans, LA. In lieu of flowers, donations to Wounded Warriors and Congregation Gates of Prayer are appreciated. Arrangements entrusted to Tharp Funeral Home.
