Laurent Peter Ruiz Sr.

Laurent Peter Ruiz Sr. passed away on December 4, 2016 at the age of 83. He was a devoted husband, father and grandfather. Laurent is the father of Delves Ruiz (Cathy,) Darnelle Ruiz Toups (Bret) and Laurent Ruiz Jr. (Donna.) He is the grandfather to Joshua (Lauren) and Jeffery Ruiz, Matthew and Maura Toups and Rachael Ruiz. Laurent was also blessed with two great grandchildren, Gavin and Geoffrey Ruiz. He is the brother of Gail Ruiz Page (Bob), Isabelle Ruiz Wadsworth (Mort), Frank Ruiz (Dianne) and Garland Ruiz (Cecile.) Laurent is preceded in death by his parents, Franklin L. Ruiz and Isabelle S. Ruiz; his wife, Joan E. Ruiz; daughter, Maura Lin Ruiz; sister, Clarisse Ruiz Jacques and sister, Elaine Ruiz Guillot. Laurent's memory will live on in all the lives he has touched. The family would like to extend thanks to Bayside Nursing Home and Notre Dame Hospice for the special care that was afforded to Laurent in his final months. Relatives, friends of the family, friends of McDermott and Orleans Parish Civil District Court are invited to attend a Visitation on Friday, December 9, 2016 from 9:00 AM-12:00 Noon at Mothe Funeral Home, 2100 Westbank Expressway, Harvey, LA. A Funeral Mass will follow at 12:00 Noon in the funeral home chapel. Interment Westlawn Memorial Park Cemetery in Gretna. Flowers are welcomed or donations may be made to the American Heart Association (www.heart.org) and toward cancer research.
