He attended Dover High School in Dover, N.J. where he met Ida May Vandermark, his beloved wife of 60 years. Leon, Sr. was the son of the late William G. Dorsey, Sr. and Florence R. Formella, brother to the late William G. Dorsey, Jr. and Dolores F. Dorsey. Father of Leon Dorsey, Jr. (Raquel) of Chicago, IL., Carol L. Johnson (Stephen) of Luling, LA, Ruth A. Allen and Great Grandfather to Carter W. Engelmann. It was his wish that no formal service be said. In lieu of flowers, etc. we request donations be considered in the name of Leon Dorsey, Sr. to Sister Servants of Mary, Ministers to the Sick, 5001 Perlita Street, New Orleans, LA 70122-1999. Thank you to his dedicated support staff at Sunrise Senior Living of Metairie for their gentle and loving care, Concerned Care Home Health and Hospice for their comfort and to all of those who offered their thoughts and prayers. Lee will be forever missed. He will be remembered for his quick wit, hardy laugh, warm sense of humor and a smile that would light up the room. Because of his great love of gardening he left this earth a more beautiful place. Rest In Peace Dad.
