Linda Danese Obituary

Linda Kay White Danese, age 80, passed away on Saturday, January 7. She was the only child of the late Charles Robert White and Helen Blount White. Linda was married 3 days after turning 21 to the late Nicolas Rodolphe Danese (Buddy) at Mater Dolorosa Church. They were married over 50 years. Linda's passion was as a caregiver to her six children. She retired from the USDA National Finance Center, beginning her career there after her youngest child began school. She is survived by her children, Alison Cuevas, Kimberly Collins, Mary Danese, Nicolas Danese, Jr. (Sissy), and Jill Cooper (Mary). Also survived by 13 grandchildren, Megan (Lawrence, Jr.), Brett (Malinda), Scott (Amber), Bryan, Jr. (Paige), Charles (Sarah), Jessica, Melissa, Joshua (Stephanie), Christina, Amanda (Eric), Lindsey, Jennifer (Mark) and Matthew, along with 6 great grandchildren. She is also survived by 2 sisters in law, Yvette (Robert) Gestler and Yvonne (Luis) Melendi, 1 nephew (Ron Gestler) and 1 niece (Monique Cruz). Linda was preceded in death by her son, Charles Robert Danese, son in law, Daniel Cuevas, and niece, Shannon Melendi. A longtime resident of Arabi, Linda & Buddy moved to Covington following Hurricane Katrina and Linda recently resided in Slidell. She was an active parishioner of St. Luke the Evangelist Catholic Church and really treasured her Tuesday afternoon Rosary Group. The family wishes to extend a special thank you to the staff at Heritage Manor Nursing Home for the friendships and loving care provided to Linda during her stay. Relatives and friends are invited to attend the Funeral Mass in the Chapel of Lake Lawn Metairie Funeral Home, 5100 Pontchartrain Blvd. New Orleans on Saturday, January 14, 2017 at 1:00p.m. Visitation will begin at 11:00a.m. Interment will be private. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to National Kidney Foundation of Louisiana or The American Diabetes Association. To all my cousins I'm so sorry for your loss. I loved Linda's smile and laugh after Katrina we didn't see each other much but whenever we did it was like we had seen each other the day before. RIP Linda, I know you grabbed a hold of Chuckie as soon as you got to heaven.
