Lloyd B. Johnson

Lloyd B. Johnson was born on October 22, 1929 in Gatesville, Texas, and was a resident of LaPlace for 70 years, passed away at his residence surrounded with family by his side on May 29, 2017. A devoted husband, father, grandfather, he is survived by his loving wife of 66 years, Marie Ferraro Johnson, one daughter Toni Johnson Flynn (Harold) and 2 grandchildren Matthew Flynn and Ellen Flynn Benedetto (Daniel). He was preceded in death by his daughter Jill Marie, parents Leonard L. Johnson and Ruby Lee Johnson, and sister Carol J. Arcuri Alleman. Lloyd was a graduate of Leon Godchaux High School, 1948. He began his Public Service career as a St. John Parish Deputy Sheriff for 6 years and served as Sheriff for 20 ½ years. He was a member of and served as President of the Louisiana Sheriff's Association, 1991-1992, served on numerous National Law Enforcement Boards, and local civic boards including the St. John Parish Council on Aging. Visitation at St. John Parish Civic Center in LaPlace, 2900 U.S. Hwy 51 on Thursday evening, June 1, 2017 from 6:00 p.m. to 9:00 p.m., and on Friday morning at St. Joan of Arc Catholic Church, 529 W. 5th St, LaPlace from 9:30 a.m. until Mass of Christian Burial at 12:00 noon. Entombment in St. John Memorial Gardens Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, please consider masses or a donation in his memory to St. John Parish Sheriff's Office Body Armor Fund, c/o Jeff Clement, P. O.
