Lucille Humphrey Bailey

1927 - 2022

Lucille Humphrey Bailey was born October 29, 1927, in New Orleans, Louisiana and passed away peacefully August 13, 2022, at the age of 94 in New Orleans. Daughter of the Late Henry Humphrey and Mary Walton Humphrey. She was baptized at First Zion Baptist Church at a young age. Raised in the Gert Town area and was a long time member of Greater King Solomon Baptist Church. She Married the Late Felix "Dollar Bill" Bailey, Sr. in August 1948 and had four children. Survived by her daughters Gail Bailey Barnes McQuarte, Shanda Bailey Tinson, Javier Holmes whom she loved as her own, her grandchildren Keith Barnes and LeeShan Tinson-Tullos (Jason), and her great nieces Dawn Bolden and Troy Bazile-Leytus and a host of other nieces and nephews. Also survived and dearly missed by her dear friend, Mrs. Jane Johnson. Preceded in death by her parents, her husband Felix Sr, her sons Felix Jr. "June" and Terry Lee Bailey, her grandson Lance Barnes, her eight brothers and three sisters, and her son in law Lee Edward Tinson. Lucille AKA Ms. Cille will be missed. Relatives and friends of the Family, also Members of Greater King Solomon Baptist Church, and neighboring churches in the Gert Town area, are invited to attend the Celebration of her Life on Tuesday, August 23, 2022, at Majestic Mortuary 1833 Oretha C. Haley Blvd. New Orleans 70113 at 10:00am. Visitation will begin at 9:00am. Interment in Resthaven Memorial Park.
