Dear family,

Lucille was a dear friend, fellow camper and seeker of knowledge when we both taught at St. Joseph Academy. Our friendship and discussions continued long after. She inspired Gary and me with her zest for life and especially her philosophy of Christianity. She was a true light in this world, and we will miss her very much.

The Pilie and Sarrat's have always been my second family. I laughed when you all laughed and I hurt when you do also. I miss those Riverside Drive growing years....listening through the trees from next door to hear when my friends had arrived from the city with a repeated slam of the back screen door....

The door slams less now....but I remember that sound and can see vividly each and every friend and family member whose hands touched that door.

Rest peacifully Lucille, you have earned it. God Bless and guide your journey

Mom, it has been a week today since you left this world. What I miss so much is the momn that I knew some years ago. You were such a vibrant and loving mom who did an amazing job of raising six children and later being a devoted grandmother to Jeffrey, Gregory and of course your little Bridget who spent so much time at her Maimee's house. We miss you but are so happy that you are with Dad, Larry, and Ronnie. Can't wait to see you all on the other side.

Dearest Family,
I have spent much of this week pondering in my heart how a family so distant from me for my entire life can yet be so dear to me. I have concluded that it must be Grace.
I have a fond memory of Aunt Lucille visiting at our home, watching me scurry around my kitchen in preparation for a celebratory feast, and saying, "Darlin', you remind me of me!" I count that suggestion among my finest honors and blessings!
Please know that we are all grieving with you, lamenting the fact that we cannot be among you to offer some comfort, and finding solace in so many shared memories of our Beloved Aunt Lucille.
I am holding each of you in my embrace.
Grace to you and peace,
Carol Pilie Kistner

My heart goes out to all her family and friends. Mrs. Sarrat touched all of our lives at St joseph Academy. She is the one teacher that made it fun to learn. She always had an answer to any questions we girls threw at her. She is the one teacher I will always remember!

As a first year math and religion teacher at SJA many years ago , I had the wonderful good fortune to have Lucille as a mentor for both subjects. I can't imagine how difficult that year would have been without her. She was a remarkable and lovely lady. My prayers are with all of her family this day.

Having married into this wild and wonderful family I was totally overwhelmed by so many family members. Either the first or second time that we came to Covington I can remember flirting with Aunt Lucille as I found her incredibly beautiful and I didn't even know that she was Gayle's aunt. I really love your whole family but Lucille will always be special. Thank you for all you have given and for all the lives you have changed.

January 12, 2012

Aunt Lucille, how can I miss you so much when I live so far away and hardly ever got to see you? Swimming pools and camping trips and the first time you saw snow. Dinner at your house with that great huge family, and trips to Covington as a girl. Never forget you, love you forever. Gayle Pilie Capell

Aunt Lucille was the last of her kind. A true example of a Matriarch. Her love for her family and devotion to her husband was a rare and beautiful thing to witness. Her faith and strength sustained her through many tragedies. But her love for life is what I will most remember about her. Her laugh, her feistiness, her smile, and her stories are all things I feel very privileged to have been able to experience with the family I married into. I love you Aunt Lucille. Bravo to a well lived life.
