I have published a couple of papers in the last three years. You always believed in me and encouraged me, so I kept my career as a scientist even in challenging situations. Dr. Espinoza, your lessons have always disciplined me to be sincere when facing science. I always remember that my ultimate goal in research is to help suffering patients.
You live forever in our hearts.

It is impossible to make a profile of Professor Luis Rolan Espinoza. Those of us who were fortunate enough to have been his students or his friends number in the hundreds worldwide, we live different realities. But we come together in one, besides being a great doctor, you were a GREAT HUMAN BEING. Tireless worker, privileged memory, great capacity for analysis and problem solving, you made the difficult easy. You taught us to be Inclusive, to work as a team, you were wise to reward effort, to respect our colleagues regardless of the ladder or rank they occupy and especially our main reason for being our patients. Kindly and generously, you shared your knowledge without selfishness, sacrificing the time of your family whom you always remembered in a nostalgic way in the many commitments worldwide in which you participated, but you could not say no to an invitation to spread what for decades of early mornings and critical reading you learned. Always ready to give advice or correct with a glance. You exhorted us to follow our instincts that an investigation starts from an observation and it was our obligation to publish it. Not to fear making mistakes because success was full of failures. You opened the door of your house to many of your students, you invited us to stay, and then you saw them leave like a father sees a son go, we left full of strength because you made us better people.
God bless you Luis Rolan Espinoza thank you for giving us so much strength in the hearts of your wife Dra Carmen Espinoza, your son Luis Espinoza, your daughter Gabriela and your grandchildren.

Dr. Espinoza was my physician for several years. He was a great doctor and always made me smile. He asked me during one of my office visits why did I work so hard. I told him because I'm single and no family. I said I need to eat! We both smiled. He was a great man and will be missed. I'm sure he is working his magic in heaven. Gold bless him and many prayers to his family.

I am deeply sorry to hear Dr. Luis Espinoza had passed away. I was his research fellow. Dr. Espinoza gave me great opportunities and opened up my career as a researcher. His department was truly a nurturing environment for trainees. I still remember many suffering patients in his clinic, which really motivates me to devote myself to the research field. I will work hard to pass his legacy to the next generation.
My sincere condolences.

Dr Carmen E. and family:
I am one of Dr. Espinoza's disciples from Peru.
I will never forget all the help and kindness you gave me while I was in New Orleans. Dr Espinoza's departure undoubtedly generates great pain for me. He was one of those people who was always ready to help, even over long distances. A very respectable person, not only as a doctor but also for his quality of human being.
Thanks to him I was able to strengthen my criteria as a rheumatologist and above all to believe in myself. His departure creates a great void in our hearts.
God gives you strength in this moment.

The dedication of Dr. Espinoza for education and patient care was beyond words. He also loved his family and those grand kids gave him a twinkle in his eyes.

He led in a quiet manner and by example. As an administrator, we were often in meetings together. Usually it was a very quiet fight as he would listen, take note of the issues and when he took a deep breath, lowered his head and motioned with his hands, that was the the last word and what he was willing to do. The world has lost one more treasure.

It is with great sadness to discover Dr. Espinoza's death. I have been a patient of his since 2008 where he virtually saved my life . After being admitted to emergency room he was the only doctor who diagnosed an uncommon illness of Weggners Vasculitas. This knowledgeable, caring, kind, gentleman has become endeared to my family and we will certainly miss his presence. Dr. "E" as I affectionally called him, was a great doctor, a good friend who I now bid, Via Con Dios, amigo.

Luis, was the kindest, but stern physician I have ever known. He was always pleasant and on time, I was his first 7:00 am appointment most of my appointments, I promise Luis would not only be there but started on time with a smile. I was his patient 14 plus years, I kid you not, I have been grieving just like he my closest family members. I will always remember and love him. I will pray for his family he has always smiled and spoken highly of them all.
