Marcia Fabacher Obituary

We are sad to announce that Marcia passed away with family at her side at Ochsner Hospital on October 15, 2024 from complications after a long battle with breast cancer. She was born in Lake Charles on June 4, 1947. Preceding her in death were her parents Imogene and Henry Morgan, and her husband Lawrence B. Fabacher II Esq. She graduated from Lake Charles High School in 1965 and later from Louisiana State University with a Bachelor of Science degree. After she completed the Uniform Certified Public Accountant examination in 1975, she became a partner in the firm of Hanlon, Morgan & Stiron. Later in her career, she became a tax manager and senior accountant in taxation at Deloitte, Haskins & Sells. During Mike Foster's terms as Governor of Lou-isiana, she was honored to be appointed to the Louisiana State Gaming Control Board. Marcia was also a member of the Society of Louisiana Certified Public Accountants and the New Orleans Estate Planning Council. She was in private practice until the time of her death. Her favorite pastime was her work; and she read voraciously. Larry met Marcia and started dating in 1975. They finally tied the knot in 1992. They loved to travel. Her hus-band Larry had his pilot's license and a plane. Together they flew and travelled all over the United States and Europe with Marcia as the copilot. She loved white wine by 2pm; was unabashedly opinionated; and was never in doubt. She leaves behind four nieces and one nephew: Courtney Fabacher Guste (John), Megan Fabacher Johnson (Aaron), Colin Fabacher, Kerrie Fabacher Montalbano (Wy-att) and Lawren Fabacher. In lieu of flowers, a donation can be made in Marcia's name to the Magnolia Community Services which offers support and services to adults with developmental disabilities. www.mcs-nola.org. Funeral arrangements by Lake Lawn Cemeteries will be held at a later date.

To the Fabacher family, Bill and I send our sincere condolences.

I had composed a more personal message, but it was too large to be sent to you by card.
Our lives have all changed. There is a huge hole in my heart and in my day, as Marcia and I spent time together most days. Ziggy our Cavalier can't understand why "Aunt Marcia" isn't on the porch to give a scratch and treat. He grabs the leash as we walk by, trying to pull me back to the porch. I miss our visits so very much. I miss Marcia's feistiness. She was small but such a kick. I know she is in a better place and free of pain, so that gives comfort.
Sending love and condolences to all of you.

Marcia will be missed by so many. She was loved by the neighborhood for her kindness and generosity. There is not a dog within a 6 block radius that does not know "Aunt Marcia" and who will go directly to her door on walks.

We moved to New Orleans in 2011 and I would see Marcia when I would go on walks. If you were walking a dog, she would always have a treat ready. One day our dog, Ziggy got out of the yard and where did he go? Directly to Marcia's porch and began barking for her to come out and give him a treat. She got a big kick out of that.

Marcia and I visited on a daily basis. Her absence has left a terrific void in my life. I will always treasure our time together. I loved our discussions, our pedicures together, going to lunch, and her feistiness. For such a little bity person, she had a big personality.

Ziggy doesn't understand why Aunt Marcia is no longer on the porch. When we walk by her house, he grabs the leash in his mouth and tries to pull me back to her porch.

As it turns out, Bill and Marcia had mutual friends at LSU and I had memories of Lake Charles similar to hers as I grew up in Elton, 45 miles from Lake Charles.

Bill and I send our love to Courtney especially, as I know how close she and Marcia were.

I am so sorry to see that my dear friend has gained her angel wings. Several days ago, I found some old pictures of us -one at a Twinkling Blue Bird meeting at her home when her Mother was our leader, two of our elementary school class pictures, & several from birthday parties. I planned to have copies made & bring them to New Orleans after the first of the year to give to her. I was blessed to have had Marcia as a friend almost from the day we were born until now & to have shared special times growing up together in Lake Charles. We attended school together from kindergarten through high school. We would continue to see each other at LSU & then again when my husband & I later moved to New Orleans. Although we haven´t seen each other in several years we were still able to stay in touch thanks to the internet. I will truly miss her but have many wonderful memories to look back on. I send my sincere condolences to all of y´all, her wonderful nieces & nephew, who she loved dearly.
