Dr. Marcus Lucas DiLeo, Sr. age 58, entered into eternal rest on Tuesday, May 27, 2014. Devoted father of Emily Kathryn DiLeo and Marcus Lucas DiLeo, Jr.; son of Antoinette Russo Fitzpatrick and the late Dr. Vincent Louis DiLeo, brother of Dr. Vincent L. DiLeo, Jr., (Mary), Gina M. DiLeo and Annette D. Shaw (David). Also survived by nephew Vincent L. "Trey" DiLeo, III, nieces Lauren Favret, Claudia Favret, Meredith Shaw and Corinne DiLeo. A native of New Orleans and a graduate of LSU School of Medicine, Marc practiced the art and science of medicine for 32 years. He received the Owl Club Award from Tulane University for outstanding mentorship to Medical Student in 1985 while doing a fellowship in pediatrics. He enjoyed composing and listening to music, history, cooking, gardening, and spending time with his cherished children. He ardently sought to expand his mind and knowledge through studies of an eclectic range of sciences and humanities associated with various philosophies, languages, theories, and arts. He deeply valued the many aesthetics of life. A good friend at CBS and DLS, Marc and Jack became closer than just friends while at LSU. We partied and studied together. Who could ever forget the party in my dorm room with "laserman". I could always stop by for a little music, a cup of coffee, or at least a tablespoon of instant coffee and a glass of water to chase it with on the way to an early exam or class. Helped convince me to sell my motorbike by taking me to the head trauma section of Charity while he was in Med School. Although I haven't been close as of late, he will always be with me as a friend. A truly good person. I will miss him.

From our years together at Christian Brothers School and DeLaSalle High School, I grew to know Marc as being very intelligent, talented and kind. He was a great doctor and an even greater person. My deepest sympathies to the DiLeo family during this difficult time.

I first met Dt. Dileo in 2000 when I started at OPCSO and later worked with him at STPSO. He was an amazing friend and teacher.

The last time I spoke with Dr. Dileo I thanked him for his friendship and guidance over the years. He was our "go to" man when we were worried about a patient or didn't understand the reasoning behind an order. There were no dumb questions. He always found the time for me (and my co-workers).

Whenever I had a personal problem at work or home he was there to lend an ear and at times words of wisdom. I have been blessed having him for my friend and teacher.

Dr. Dileo, you are loved by all of your co-workers and are greatly missed. I will always remember you.

My heart goes out to the Dileo Family. I'm very sorry for your loss.

Our thoughts are with you. I happened to be out near the ocean on the day I think Dr. DiLeo died so I will share the photograph I took which seems evocative in just the right way. He might have like it.

Dr.Dileo was the sweetest coworker I ever met.He always had a kind word to say.Dileo family,I'm sorry for your loss

My condolences to the DiLeo Family. Marc DiLeo was the most compassionate and intuitive doctor I have ever known. His dedication to his profession and his patient (me), was always paramount in his words and actions. As a former patient, I thank God that I was sent to him during a very serious illness. I will forever remember him, his expertice and his kindness toward me. Eternal rest, grant unto him, O Lord, and let perpetual light shine upon him, and may he rest in peace. Amen.

Dr. Dileo was a brilliant physician. He seemed to have a "sixth sense" about the right treatment path for any given situation. He was confident and made others feel confident as well.

I worked with Dr. Dileo at both Orleans Parish and St. Tammany Parish Jail. Several years ago he told me he wanted to be my mentor. He taught me so much about the practice of medicine. He encouraged me to problem solve, always reminding me that, "Common things happen more commonly". I'm sure that in the course of my learnings, I asked some less than brilliant questions. He always suffered them gladly, praised me for my efforts, and had faith in my decisions. He was always a cheerleader.

I remember that Dr. Dileo appreciated beautiful things like classical music, art, rare trees and Tiffany lamps. He encouraged others to know and explore beauty as well. He was never satisfied with surface knowledge and was constantly seeking the whole truth.

I owe Dr. Dileo a great debt of gratitude. He was a humble man and I'm sure he wouldn't want the attention, but he definitely deserves the praise.

My deepest sympathies extend to the Dileo family. You should be very proud of Dr. Dileo. He was a mentor to many. He helped countless people to live better lives. He will be remembered fondly and missed daily.

Rest in Peace, good Doctor. You surely deserve it.
