Margaret Kuluz Obituary

KULUZ Margaret Pavlov Kuluz died on March 17, 2008 at the age of 95. She was born July 1, 1912 in Biloxi and was a lifelong resident of Point Cadet, where she was a member of St. Michael's Catholic Church. Margaret touched many lives through the unselfish and compassionate example that she set throughout her life. She lived a rewarding and productive life that was built on hard work, sacrifice, devotion and dedication to Christian ideals she also instilled in her children and grandchildren. Margaret attended St. Michael's Elementary School before having to leave at an early age to begin her career in the seafood factories. She was married to the late Vincent "Visco" Kuluz. As the mother of six children, Margaret was active in every aspect of their lives, serving as homeroom mother, driving the children to school events, making sure they received all the sacraments of the Catholic Church to ensure their spiritual growth. She continued her active participation in the lives of her grandchildren and great-grandchildren by traveling to school sporting events both home and away. Margaret was a life member of the Elks Lodge 606 and the Slavic Ladies Auxiliary, a former committee lady at Kuluz Bros. Packing Company. The Biloxi Lions Club named her Mother of the Year in 1999. Margaret was active in many social and civic organizations and was known for her delicious Slavic pastries and pusharatas. She was preceded in death by her husband, Vincent "Visco" Kuluz; her parents, Peter and Annie Pavlov; her sisters, Danica (Grego) Garbin and Frances "Flossie" Touchet; her brothers, George (Cecile) Pavlov and Frank (Hilda) Pavlov; grandchild, Matthew Kuluz, Jr.; great-grandchildren, Patrick Matthew, Claire Olivia and Caitlin Elizabeth Coon; a son-in-law, James H. Tinley and a nephew, James Joseph "J.J." Touchet. She is survived by her daughters, Frances (Jerry) Creel, Donna Watts, both of Biloxi; her sons, Dr. Matthew (Jeanette) Kuluz, Sr. of Pascagoula, Peter (Patsy) Kuluz of Ocean Springs and Vincent (Jean) Kuluz and Pat (Linda) Kuluz, all of Biloxi; 18 grandchildren and 23 great-grandchildren. She is also survived by a brother, Dr. Peter Pavlov of Ocean Springs. A funeral Mass of the Resurrection will be conducted Monday at 11 a.m. at St. Michael's Catholic Church, where friends may visit from 9:00 a.m. until 11:00 a.m. Burial will follow in Biloxi City Cemetery. Arrangements made by Bradford-O'Keefe Funeral Homes, Howard Avenue, Biloxi. Pallbearers are her grandsons: Mark Watts, Danny Watts, Dr. John Kuluz, Vincent Creel, Dr. Michael Kuluz, Kurt Kuluz, Peter Kuluz, Jr., Tommy Kuluz, Carl Kuluz, Kevin Kuluz and Kenneth Kuluz. The family prefers donations to: St. Vincent De Paul Community Pharmacy, Inc., 735 Division St., Biloxi, MS 39530. View and sign register book at www.bradfordokeefe.com.
