Marie D'Antoni Gross

Marie D'Antoni Gross, 82, peacefully passed away in the early morning hours of Tuesday, December 19. A native of Natchez, MS, over the span of her life she also lived in Mobile, AL, and most recently in Metairie, LA for the past 18 years. A devout Roman Catholic, Marie graduated from Cathedral High School in Natchez, MS attended University of Southern Mississippi for one year, then graduated from Loyola University in New Orleans with a degree in medical technology. Marie never met a stranger. She lit up any room with her kindness and cheerfulness wherever she went. She made countless friends as an active member of the Natchez Garden Club. She also loved to sing and was a member of the St. Mary's Basilica choir. Marie was a beloved friend. Her kindheartedness and smile will be truly missed. Marie was a devoted mother, sister, grandmother, and aunt. She is survived by her children Lisa Gaudet Sandel (Adrian) of Natchez and Edward L. Gaudet, Jr. (Jennifer) of Madisonville, LA; grandchildren Ashley Sandel Hardin (Johnny) of Shreveport, LA; Will Sandel of Orlando, FL; and Rachel Gaudet & Emma Gaudet of Madisonville, LA; as well as her loving brother Sam J. D'Antoni, Jr. of Metairie; sister-in-law, Tina G. D'Antoni of Metairie, LA; sister-in-law Dottie Gaudet of Natchez; cherished family friend William Carey, III of Metairie, LA; and beloved nieces and nephews. Marie was predeceased by her parents, Sam J. and Marie Giardina D'Antoni of Natchez, MS as well as her brother, Frank D. D'Antoni, Sr. of Metairie, LA. Relatives and friends are invited to attend services on Friday, December 29, at St. Mary's Basilica located at 105 S. Union St., Natchez, MS. Visitation will begin at 10:00 a.m. followed by Mass at 11:00 a.m. Internment at the Natchez City Cemetery will follow. Mass offerings are preferred in lieu of flowers. Donations to the American Cancer Society or St. Mary's Basilica may also be made in Marie D'Antoni Gross' name.
