Marie Mahin Motahari

1995 - 2022

Marie Mahin Motahari, a resident of Covington, LA passed away at her family home on Tuesday, March 1, 2022 at the age of 26. Marie was born April 25, 1995 in Metairie LA, and a resident of Covington, LA for the last 25 years. Marie had a sweet, tender disposition. She was warm and accepting, and had a great sense of humor. She had a soft spot for all animals, caring for a menagerie of interesting pets; most notably her rescue dog Zoe. She loved music, writing, computer and Magic card games, scuba diving and traveling. A loving granddaughter, she was a companion to her grandmother, where she was an active live-in caregiver. She attended St. Scholastica Academy, and subsequently graduated from Louisiana School for Math, Science & the Arts in 2011. She attended Oglethorpe University on scholarship, and received her Bachelor degree in Psychology from Southeastern Louisiana University. She was currently a student at the University of Denver, as a candidate for Master of Social Work at the end of this term. For the last four years, Marie has worked in a variety of environments as a social worker. She was employed as a Mental Health Specialist, working with children and families. Related to her coursework at the University of Denver, Marie was currently an intern with Capital Post Conviction Project of Louisiana, where she had been performing case management social services. Her previous internship was working with the elderly. Marie was the loving daughter of Rae Martinez Motahari and Mohamad Motahari. Sister of Luis "Manny" Motahari (Jordan Bridges Motahari). Granddaughter of Mrs. Mahin Motahari and the late Mansour Motahari and Leona Puissegur Martinez Cerny (John "Jack" Cerny) and the late Luis B. Martinez. Niece of Luis Martinez (Melissa Gressaffa Martinez), Mike Martinez (Dina Galatas Martinez), Anthony Martinez, and the late Mehdi Motahari. Cousin of Luis B. Martinez III, Michael Martinez, Beau Martinez, Kyle Martinez, Nicholas Motahari, and Jason Shubert. Relatives and friends of the family are invited to attend a Funeral Mass at Mary Queen of Peace, 1501 North Causeway Boulevard, Mandeville, on Thursday, March 10, 2022 at 12:00 noon. Visitation will begin in church at 10:00 in the morning. A private interment will be held at a later date.
