Marilyn Ann Lackings-Wilson

1961 - 2021

Marilyn Ann Lackings-Wilson, was born in New Orleans on March 14, 1961 to Audrey Cager-Lackings and the late Earl Lackings, Sr. On Saturday, February 13, 2021 at 4:45 am in the morning while at North Oaks Medical Center in Hammond, LA, God called Marilyn from her earthly home to eternal rest. Marilyn accepted Christ at an early age and was baptized at Mount Carmel Missionary Baptist Church by Apostle Arthal Thomas, Sr. She loved and lived in the Lower Ninth Ward of New Orleans for most of her life until being displaced by Hurricane Katrina to Texas, and finally to Ponchatoula, Louisiana until her passing. Marilyn was educated at George Washington Carver High School in New Orleans; and was a homemaker. She leaves to carry on her memory, one sister, Jackie Lackings; two brothers, Walter (Darlene) Lackings, Benny (Mayra) Lackings; two daughters, Lentrice (Mario) Evans-Tate, Andrea Lackings; two sons, Andre Lackings, William Lackings; one grandchild, of Lentrice and Mario, Miracle Tate; and her godchildren, Danise Pruitt and Jonathan Cooper; her great uncle Hansey (Elessie) Lackings; with a host of aunts, uncles, cousins, nieces, nephews, and her pet dog Scooby. She was preceded in death by her father, Earl Lackings, Sr.; her paternal great grandparents, Walter Bornes and Lorinda Bornes; her paternal grandparents, George Lackings and Annie Bornes-Lackings; her maternal great grandparents, George Lindsey and Arthemise Lindsey-Leblanc; her maternal grandparents, Nathaniel Cager, Sr. and Genevieve Lindsey-Cager; her brother, Earl "June" Lackings, Jr., her sister Marion A. Lackings (twin), and Earline Dawson. All are welcome to the viewing at 12:30 pm; with relatives attending her Home Going service at 1:30 pm on Sat., February 20, 2021 at Majestic Mortuary Service, Inc., 1833 Oretha Castle Haley Blvd., New Orleans, LA 70113. Interment will immediately follow the service at Resthaven Memorial Park, 10400 Old Gentilly Road, New Orleans, LA 70127. Arrangements entrusted to Majestic Mortuary Service, Inc. 504-523-5872.
