Marion Lochridge Obituary

Marion Fraiche Lochridge passed away on Wednesday, September 4, 2024, in Lafayette, LA, at the fabulous age of 95. Marion was born November 17, 1928, in New Orleans, LA. Growing up in the Mid-City area, she attended F.T. Howard Elementary and John McDonogh High when it was an all-girl school. After attending business school, she went to work for Marks Isaacs Department Store on Canal Street as a bookkeeper. She often spoke of her love of retail and how much fun she had meeting the merchandise buyers and being on the receiving end of new trends. With an adventure and independent spirit, she enjoyed exploring in her young single years driving across the country to visit her sister in Colorado and even venturing across the Caribbean to Cuba. Eventually she met the love of her life and settled down to raise a family. Many years later she and her husband moved from New Orleans to Lafayette to be near children and grandchildren. Marion is the eldest child of the late Edward N. Fraiche, Sr., and Gesina Henken Fraiche. She is the widow of her husband of 50 years, the late James A. Lochridge, Sr. Marion is survived by her daughter, Gesina L. Arnold, widow of William L. Arnold, II; son, James A. Lochridge, Jr., and his wife, Jan; grandchildren, Cameron J. Lochridge and his wife Anna, F. O'Neal Lochridge, and Lillian R. Lochridge; step-grandchildren Rachel A. Walker and her husband Hodge, and Will L. Arnold and his wife Sara; and step-great grandchildren Aidan, Owen, and Graham Walker. She is also survived by her siblings, Catherine P. McKay, Edward N. Fraiche, Jr., and Thomas J. Fraiche, and many nieces, nephews and family members and friends who are missing her love, care, loyalty, dependability, nurturing, and incredible sharpness and wit. Please join us in remembering and celebrating a very special lady on Saturday, September 14, 2024, at Greenwood Funeral Home, 5200 Canal Blvd., New Orleans, LA. Visitation will start at 11:00 am, with a Mass at 1:00 pm. Interment will follow in Greenwood Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made in memory of the deceased to the St. John Cathedral Historic Preservation Fund, 515 Cathedral Street, Lafayette, LA 70501.

I just loved cousin Marion. She and Catherine came to Houston as teenagers and they were so much fun.
Marion laughed a lot and made jokes and was very sweet as well.
I loved coming to New Orleans to the lake when all the family would visit on Sunday. What wonderful memories I have of the laughter, fun and good eats and drinks.
God bless you all and cherish your memories of Marion.

To any Aunt or godmother lucky enough to be called "nanny" you owe Marion a debt of gratitude. She was the quintessential nanny!
She was my nanny and my heart.
