NASHUA -- Marjorie E. Welper, 91, died April 22, 2010, at Greenbriar Terrace after a brief illness.
She was born March 31, 1919, in Nashua, to Willard and Josephine (Cronin) Paine. She was a lifelong resident of the city.
She was employed as a baker at Crosby, Brockerman Bakery and also at Alexander's Supermarket. She was among the first school crossing guards in Nashua.
A devout Catholic, she was a member of St. Patrick parish in her younger years and more recently a member of St. Christopher Church. She was a member of St. Patrick Ladies Guild, Lay Order of Carmelites, Catholic Daughters of America, Legion of Mary and Blue Army. She also taught CCD at St. Christopher Church.
Members of her family include a son Paul Welper, a daughter Mary Jo Pond and a sister Helen Burbine all of Nashua; 11 grandchildren; and two great-grandchildren.
She was pre-deceased by a son, Stephen Welper and a daughter, Catherine Welper.
SERVICES: Calling hours are Wednesday from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m. at Zis-Sweeney Funeral Home, 26 Kinsley St., Nashua. A Mass of Christian burial will be celebrated Thursday at 11 a.m. at St Christopher Church, 62 Manchester St., Nashua. Burial will follow at St. Patrick Cemetery, Hudson.
