Mark Erich Weber of Metairie, Louisiana passed away on October 29, 2021 at the age of 50. Mark was born on June 21, 1971, in New Orleans, Louisiana to the late Henry Charles Weber and the late Roselyn Karen Barovechio. Mark was a beloved brother and one time baby carriage hostage to Christine Weber Williams; brother-in-law to Mike Williams, who first befriended Mark at age 16 and can share no stories of their youth in this solemn text; a devoted uncle and sports conspiracy theorist to Michael Williams, III; and candy smuggler to Katherine Williams. His Uncle and Aunt, Herbert Schwartz Weber and Susan Ward of San Leandro, CA, grieve his loss and will miss Mark antagonizing them about California sports teams. He was a dear nephew to Aunt Karen (Scalise) and her husband, Uncle Ronnie, who he could never beat in a strong handshake contest. Mark was also a cherished nephew to Jan and Bobby Dowell. It is because of Mark that Jan can now text. Mark was cousin in name but brother in heart to Suzy, Ron, David, and Michael Scalise. The bond he shared with them will last beyond this life. Their Halloween escapades, childhood camping trips, fireworks wars, Chez Lemon experiences, and fantasy football rivalries will be talked about for generations. He was "Uncle Mark" and undefeated in all sports to Matthew, Pete, Luke, and Samantha Scalise. He was also loved and adored by all the Scalise spouses: Mary Lasseigne, Sally Richardson, Kelly Scalise, and Jessica Scalise. Mark leaves behind his devoted significant other Candace Cain and her daughter Savannah, who each enriched his life in countless ways. Mark shared with Savannah both his love of sports and food by playing ball with her each morning before school and by taking her for stuffed snowballs after school. Mark was preceded in death by his beloved "brother", Zack, an English bulldog. He had a soft spot for all animals and will be greatly missed by all the family dogs: Reese, Harriet, Hazel, Sampson, "Baby Boy" Maverick, Bella, Hank, Layla, Beaux, Roux, Daphne, Yeti, Graycie, Luna, and Snowball. Mark was a 25-year employee of the United States Postal Service who spent much of his time in the St. Rose location. There Mark made enduring friendships with the residents. Knowing how much he loved a good meal, "Mr. Mark" would regularly receive plates of food from a number of friends. He was an avid sports fan and a veritable sports almanac of information. Oftentimes, Mark would predict a play before it happened, and he always had next level data to share with friends and family. Mark was highly competitive, and because of his size and athleticism, he excelled at all sports. Mark was funny, thoughtful, and larger than life. He never met a stranger, and in his short time on earth, touched hundreds of people who all called him "friend." To his closest friends, he was "Spud" or "Charlie". Not only was Mark incredibly giving, but his exceptional memory, specifically regarding numbers and dates, meant that he never forgot a birthday or special occasion. He had an uncanny ability to reach out and say "Hi" just when people needed it the most. He had so many friends, but he had inseparable bonds with his dearest friends Doug Meyer, Adam Woolery, Jim Whelan, Jeff Clay and their families. They all loved watching Saints, LSU, and Michigan games with him. As the many comments on social media have reflected, the impact that Mark made on everyone he knew was profound, sincere, fun, and everlasting. There will never be another person like Mark Weber. Relatives and friends are invited to attend a memorial service on Saturday, November 6, 2021 at Lake Lawn Metairie Funeral Home, 5100 Pontchartrain Blvd. New Orleans, Louisiana at 3:00 p.m. with visitation beginning at 11:30 a.m. until service time.
