Mary Favalora Obituary

Mary Ann Tresch Favalora passed away peacefully with her family by her side on the beautiful afternoon of March 6, 2024 at the age of 72 years. She was preceded in death by her mother, Kathleen Doran Tresch, and in-laws, Charles J. Favalora, Shirley Brocato, and Joseph Brocato. She is survived by her father, Edward Tresch Sr; brothers Edward Tresch Jr (Donna) and Harold R. Tresch II; nephews Simon (Amy), Andrew (Denise), and John; cousin Marlene Morris (Baxter); devoted husband of 53 years Charles A. "Buster" Favalora; daughter Ann Marie Cunningham; son-in-law Jon Cunningham; and the light of her life, granddaughter Kathleen Ann Cunningham. Mary Ann was born in New Orleans on April 18, 1951 and grew up in the Irish Channel on Constance St. Her family relocated to Carolyn Park subdivision in Arabi at the age of 10. She was a proud member of the 3rd graduating class of Andrew Jackson High School in 1969. In 1971, she and Buster were married and settled down in Chalmette. She worked for South Central Bell where she made lifelong friends, and 7 years later she and Buster welcomed their only child. Mary Ann was a devoted mother and homemaker, always involved in activities at St. Mark School, served as Room Mother every school year and also on the School Board. She handled all of the administrative business of Favalora Trucking. She returned to school as a nontraditional student, earning her Associate's Degree from St. Bernard Community College so she could return to the work force as Ann Marie was entering high school. Following Hurricane Katrina, she and Buster remained in Chalmette but moved into another home where she contracted out the work herself to rebuild it and was quite proud of it. She could often be found with Buster at Rocky's enjoying their favorite foods and time together. Mary Ann waited very patiently for Ann Marie to be married and then was elated to finally receive the title of grandmother when Kathleen was born in 2018. She always gave her son-in-law all the credit for giving her her angel, as she always referred to her. In addition, Mary Ann was a Saints fan since 1967, a genuine lady full of quick wit with the most radiant smile and loved all of her family and friends deeply. Most importantly, she was full of her faith in God. Buster and Ann Marie would like to recognize Nancy Price-Borne for not only being a wonderful friend but also an outstanding nurse. Also, special thanks to her cousin Sondra Gallagher who selflessly gave her time to help when she became ill. We could not have made it through this time without you both. Friends are invited to the visitation that begins at 10:00 a.m. on Saturday, March 16th at Our Lady of Prompt Succor Church, 2320 Paris Road in Chalmette, Louisiana, followed by the Mass at 11 a.m. Interment will be at St. Bernard Memorial Funeral Home & Gardens, 701 Virtue Street in Chalmette, Louisiana.
