Mary Kassing Lore

Mary Kassing Lore, a native and resident of Algiers, LA, died Sunday, November 9, 2014 at the age of 89 years. Beloved wife of the late Gustave Joseph Lore. Daughter of the late Edward and Myra Burmaster Kassing. Sister of the late Anna Mae Kassing Alexander and the late Edward G. Kassing. Mother of David (Vicki) , Gustave "Buddy" (Kathleen), Richard (Season), Dennis, JoAnn Hatty, Nancy McCloskey (Pat), Katie, Ann and the late Jane Marie Lore. Grandmother of David (Kim) and Kristen Clasen, Andrew Lore, Travis Hatty, Jr. and Jamie Gutwig (Gabe). Jan Bridges Lore, mother of Richard, Jr. (Trish), Ryan (Sarah) and Kelly Lore Merry (Daniel). Lauren Lore (Richard Baudier) and Michael Lore. Mike Lore, Joe (Candace) Lore, Evan Calderaro (Jennifer) and Kristen Gratsy (Jason). Great Grandmother of Logan Hatty, Hayley Hatty, Mia and Olivia Lore, Riley and Kaley (Gutwig), Jake, Tyler and Cameron Lore and Noah Merry. Cody and Sydney Clasen, Hunter and Eliza Lore, Vincent and Violet Calderaro. Mary attended Behrman High School, spent three years during World War II in an All Girl Show entertaining 88,000 servicemen at camps in Louisiana and Mississippi. Mary was an employee of Sears Roebuck, wrote for the Times Picayune as "Algiers Lore", and brought dinner theatre to the Westbank at Bayou Barriere Country Club. Mary also spent a number of years at St. Andrew the Apostle School with the children in their After School Child Care Program. Relatives and Friends of the Family are invited to attend a Memorial Visitation at Holy Name of Mary Church, corner of Alix and Verret Sts., Algiers, LA on Friday, November 14, 2014 from 9:00 am until NOON. The Memorial Mass will follow at NOON. Interment, McDonoghville Cemetery, Gretna, LA. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made in Mrs. Lore's name to Holy Name of Mary Church, Algiers, LA.
