Mary Jean Simmons

Mary Jean Simmons, 67, was born in Tylertown, Mississippi on May 31, 1954 and passed away August 4, 2021, in New Orleans, Louisiana. She was a longtime resident of Gretna, Louisiana. Mary was the daughter of the late Albert Charles Simmons and Irene Brumfield Simmons. She leaves to cherish her memories her two kids son Darnell Harrison and daughter Kenyatta Harrison, 13 grandkids, 5 sisters :Nellie, Christine, Minnie, Willene, and Peggy Simmons, 5 brothers: Joseph, Jessie, Thomas, Clyde, and Elijah Simmons. A host of nieces, nephews, cousins, and friends. She is preceded in death by her siblings 1 sister and 5 brothers and her longtime companion Lionel Harrison. Relatives, friends, RTA, Apple Bus Company, First Student are invited to attend her Celebration of Life service on Saturday, August 21, 2021 at 1:00 pm at The City of Love Church, 8601 Palmetto Street, New Orleans, Louisiana 70118. Visitation will be held at 11:00am until the hour of service. Interment Westlawn Memorial Park Cemetery, 1225 Whitney Avenue Gretna, LA 70056. Due to Covid-19 masks is required.
