McKinley Peter "Mack" Barnes

BARNES McKinley (Mack) Peter Barnes of Edgard, Louisiana was born on November 7, 1925, son of the late Sylvain Barnes and Georgiana Songy-Bornes. He married the late Velma Sedona Sylvain on September 4, 1955, and to this union was borne 6 children. He passed at the age of 85 on Wednesday, February 9, 2011 at West Jefferson Hospital, Marrero, Louisiana. He spent the last several years in the care of the Luling Living Center, Luling Louisiana. Mack will be remembered for his quiet spirit. Mack was a dedicated husband, loving father, grandfather, great-grandfather, and friend. He is survived by his three sons: David Barnes of Luling, Louisiana, Rudolph Barnes of Kathy, Texas and Lester Barnes of Edgard, Louisiana; three daughters: Robin Barnes, Myra Antonio, and Jennifer Barnes of Edgard, Louisiana; one son-in-law, Alexander Antonio; two daughters-in-law: Paulette Barnes and Selina Barnes, 12 grandchildren; 2 great-grandchildren; 3 sisters: Margaret Barnum of Charlotte, North Carolina, Theresa Claverie of Houston, Texas, and Olivia Barnum of San Antonio, Texas; 2 brothers-in-law: Norman Barnum, Lionel Barnum, and a host of nieces, nephews, relatives and friends. A Christian Mass and Burial will be held at St. John the Baptist Catholic Church, Edgard, Louisiana on Saturday, February 19, 2011 at 11:00 a.m. Visitation from 9:00 a.m. until time of service.
