Melissa Cannata

1966 - 2023

Melissa Anne Zeringue Cannata, of Slidell, Louisiana, passed away on January 6, 2023 at the age of 56. She was a native of New Orleans, Louisiana, born on February 9, 1966, to her loving parents, Evelyn Foret McNamee (Wayne McNamee) and Curtis John Zeringue (Donnell Zeringue). Melissa is the cherished mother of Douglas Hooper Jr. and Dominck Cannata (Nina Cannata); beloved stepmother of Anthony Cannata (Carly Vicknair-Cannata) and Christopher Cannata (Devon Marquette-Cannata); proud grandmother of Isabella Hooper, Douglas Hooper III, Alexus Freeman, Brandon Miller, Anthony Cannata Jr., Avery Cannata, Ella Cannata, Macyn Cannata, and Landon Cannata; and treasured sister of Amy Zeringue, Andrew Zeringue, Vanessa Kane, and the late Monique McNamee. Melissa graduated from Northshore Technical College and had a career as an LPN. She was employed with Trinity Trace Community Care Center. Melissa loved Jesus, was an active member of True Life Church, and adored listening to worship. She enjoyed traveling, especially to the beach. Melissa loved nothing more than the time she spent with family. They will forever cherish her memory. Relatives and friends are invited to attend a visitation on Saturday, January 14, 2023, from 10:00 a.m. to 11:00 a.m. at True Life Church in Slidell. A funeral service will begin at 11:00 a.m. In lieu of flowers, donations to True Life Church or the Second Harvest Food Bank are preferred.
