Melvin "Du" Francis departed this life on Thursday, December 10, 2020. He was 22 years old. He was born on March 20, 1998, to the union of Sherlinda and Melvin Nickerson III. He was educated in the Orleans Parish Public School System and graduated with honors from Christ First Christian Academy. He played recreational and high school football and was an avid gamer. Melvin was loved by his family, friends, and all who knew him. He will always be remembered by his affectionate smile, charming personality, and sense of humor. Left to cherish his memories is his mother, Sherlinda Nickerson, two sisters, Semetrious Francis – Humble (Joseph), Ciero Francis (Derrick), grandparents, Lille Mae Francis and Melbin Nickerson Jr. His uncles, Hershey, Tyrone, and Danny Francis, Darryl (Nicole), Stanley (Cynthia), Theron Nickerson (Erica). Andrea Collins (Anthony), Madge (Dewayne), Dionne (Reginal), Antoinette Nickerson, his nephews, Amone and Danny Jr., nieces, Amarie, Amanti, Amaryale, Ameliyah, and A'morah. Also left to cherish his memories are a host of cousins and devoted friends. Relatives and friends of the family are invited to attend the celebration of life services on Saturday, December 26, 2020, at Ray Avenue Baptist Church, located at 4712 Ray Avenue, New Orleans, LA 70126 at 10 am. The limited visitation will begin at 9 am Pastor Robert Brown officiating, and interment will be private. Due to COVID–19, everyone in attendance MUST wear a facemask or other proper facial covering, and practice social distancing guidelines.
