Michael Brown Obituary

Michael Brown passed away on June 22, 2024 at age 83. He moved to New Orleans in 1966 and became a successful entrepreneur, owning a chain of auto repair franchises and later founded Compu-Cure, a computer repair company, among other enterprises. He was born in Brooklyn, New York City to Irving and Henrietta (Goldy) Brown and graduated from New York University. He is survived by his wife, Linda Green; his children, Jonathan Brown (Nina Karnovsky) and Valerie Brown and stepchildren, Stephanie Green (Zeke Vanderhoek) and Dana Reese ( Molly ) and 9 grandchildren; his ex-wife and friend Judy Epstein Brown and a sister, Terri Brown Rogoff. Michael was preceded in death by his daughter Robin Brown and his brother Stuart Brown (Debra Brown). Michael embraced his chosen home with great enthusiasm as an avid sailor, tennis player, music lover, French language student and patron of the arts. Over decades, he amassed an important collection of paintings and sculptures created by local artists. In 2010, they were donated to the Ogden Museum of Southern Art as the Michael Brown & Linda Green collection, https://omsablog.blogspot.com/2010/10/michael-brown-and-linda-green.html. He was a longtime member of Touro Synagogue. A Celebration of Life service will be held on Sunday, July 28, 2024. Family & friends will be notified when arrangements are complete. Great thanks and appreciation are given to his 4 wonderful care givers: Brett Buck, Kisha Heard, Mary Pugh and Will Bridges as well as the helpful and caring staff at the Carol Condos. Those who wish to honor Michael's memory are asked to make contributions to Parkinson's Foundation, NOMA, Ogden or NOCCA. Arrangements entrusted to Tharp Funeral Home.

Our most vivid memory of Michael is his smiling welcome to his home, a party, dinner, the deck of a boat, or a simple, chance meeting on the sidewalk. That smile told everything about our beloved friend: his innocence, enthusiasm, generosity, wisdom, and joie de vivre. Goodbye, Michael. You will be missed. Jane & John
