Mildred Marcello Obituary

Mildred Toups Marcello, age 97, beloved wife of the late Sam J. Marcello for 65 years, passed away peacefully at her home on 05/07/2014. A native of Raceland, she was a resident of Lockport for the past 73 years. A devoted mother, grandmother, and great-grandmother, Mildred is survived by four children: Janet Schwaner and husband Tom, Jerry Marcello and wife Mary, Dr. Craig Marcello and wife Sydney, and Dr. Michael Marcello and wife Mary, sisters Ruth Toups Russell Monseur, and Shirley Toups Authement, grandchildren: Keith Schwaner and wife Mary Lou, Karen Schwaner Sheehy and husband Tom, Jeff Schwaner and wife Yvonne, Kim Gravois, Stephanie Gravois, Maria Marcello, Ramsey Marcello, Ashley Marcello Waguespack and husband Marc, Drs. Michael Marcello II and wife Rachael, Lauren Marcello Michenheim and husband Jason, thirteen great-grandchildren: Ian, Bradley, Daniel and Samuel Schwaner, Joseph Sheehy, Lindsey and Tyler Schwaner, Sloane and Elliott Clay, William, Samuel and Patrick Waguespack and Graham Michenheim. Mildred was preceded in death by her parents, L. M. Toups, Sr. and Maude Peltier Toups, brothers, Roland Toups, Sr. and L. M. Toups, Jr., sisters Estelle Toups Pittman, Myrtle Toups Ayo, Dorothy Toups McKerall, and Theresa T. Toups. Her greatest joys were her prayerful commitment to family, her strong Catholic faith, and her pious devotion to Mary, our Mother of Perpetual Help. The family appreciates all of the support given to Mildred by her many friends, extended family, and her loving caregivers. Visitation will be at Holy Savior Catholic Church, 612 Main St., Lockport, LA 70374 on Friday, May 9, 2014 from 9:00 AM until 11:00 AM. The Celebration Rite of Christian burial will follow, officiated by Very Rev. Robert C. Rogers, V.F. Interment after Mass at the Holy Savior Cemetery. Memorial donations may be made to Holy Savior Catholic Church. Falgout Funeral Homes in charge of arrangements.

My sincerest condolences to the entire family. Mrs. Mildred was always a classy lady and always had a smile on her face. I remember her and Mr. Sam from the Lockport Lions Club meetings. She will be missed.
