Miles Wright Obituary

WRIGHT Miles Kevin Wright born February 11, 1960 was the son of the late Donald William Wright and Roxy Lavizzo Wright. The maternal grandson of the late Essie Guichard Lavizzo and the late Frederick Sylvester Lavizzo; and the paternal grandson of the late Retta Brown Wright Price Leslie and the late Edward William Wright. Miles attended St. Augustine High School and Southern University of New Orleans. Miles' study of music began at the age of five at the Xavier University Junior School of Music transferring to Loyola University Junior School of Music at age 14. During this time he also studied at The New Orleans Center for Creative Arts. Miles was recruited to perform in the Adolescence Band and studied composition and conducting at the University of Wisconsin in Madison. Miles moved to Europe in 1987 and toured internationally, married and sired two children, Adrian Guichard Wright and Lisa Raquel Wright. Upon his return to the United States, he toured nationally and internationally as well as played in local bands. Miles was preceeded in death by his brother Darren Peters Wright. He is survived by, his beloved mother Roxy, sister, Dona and his children, Adrian and Raquel of Stavanger, Norway and host of friends and relatives. Relatives and friends of the family are invited to attend a Memorial Service at DW Rhodes Chapel, 3933 Washington Ave., New Orleans, LA on Friday, September 11, 2009 at 11:00a.m. Arrangements by DW Rhodes. Miles Wright, My Friend one of the Best to ever pick up a Bass and lay hands on a Piano. Had his own style. Keep smiling and remember you playing on Jazzfest with Jamal and Jonathan Batiste along with other Artist. Keep that Loving Spirit and I remember the song O Damon in key.

Miles was a friend since McMain ,Alvin Batiste Jazz wkshop..he brought me a photo of us at Jazz fest when I was 14 and he was 12 I guess..we have been friends in music as well as supporting of his well being.Miles had a good heart that showed thru in his music,as well as his smile.God bless all his family and friends. I just heard last night of his passing ,I really cant believe I'm not gonna see his smile and hear him play again.

Dear Roxy, i am so saddened to hear of Miles' passing. I am lucky enough to have had Miles as someone who i can say "friend". He will be greatly missed and i am so sorry for you and your family's loss. I have some awesome pictures of Miles that i am going to get to you when i return to visit new orleans in october. I also had the pleasure to work with donald as his physical therapist asst a few years back .you may or may not remember me but i promised those pictures to miles and i would love for you to have them.
