HOLLAND Dr. Monte Gene Holland, Jr. passed away on Wednesday, July 4, 2012 at the age of 83. Beloved husband of Mary Ellen Rolph Holland. Loving father of Darcie Ann Holland Coyle (W. George Coyle, III). Son of the late Eva May Tenant Holland and Monte Gene Holland, Sr. Brother of Eva Holland Gastrock. Grandfather of Sarah Bryson Coyle, Mary Holland "Holly" Coyle and Carolyn Flowers "CC" Coyle. Dr. Holland received both his undergraduate and his medical degrees from LSU. He was on the faculty of Tulane Medical School for twenty years and rose to become the Chairman of the Department of Ophthalmology. In 1976, he went into private practice. Additionally, Dr. Holland graduated from Loyola Law School and was admitted to the Bar in 1977. Relatives and friends of the family are invited to attend the memorial services at E.J. Fielding Funeral Home, 2260 W. 21st Avenue, Covington, LA 70433 on Saturday, July 7, 2012 at 3:30 PM with visitation on Saturday from 2:30 PM until service time. In lieu of flowers, the family requests contributions in memory of Dr. Holland to be made to St. Baldrick's Foundation, www.stbaldricks.org .
