Morris Burras

Morris was called home from labor to rest by our Lord and Savior Jesus Christ on June, 19, 2023 at Ochsner Medical Center (West Bank). Morris was the son of the late George Burras, Sr. and Astoria Small. He was a native of Harvey and resided in Marrero Louisiana, He was married to Gloria Williams. He was the brother of Gloria Small, Jacqueline, Cheryl Ann, Ernest (Gail), James (Karen), Elmo, William (Irene), Percy Burras; Brenda Gayten, Debra Small, and Terry Small. Brother -in-Law Amos Byrd, Sister-in-laws Carol and Mary Burras. Nephew of Augustine Hines, Audrey Vaughan and Albert Roussell. Morris was proceeded in death by his parents: George Burras, Sr., and Astoria Small. Sisters Artemese Burras, Geraldine Burrass Gooseberry, and Bernadette Burras Byrd. Brothers Willie A. Small, Warren, George, Edward, and Phil Burras. Paternal grandparents Emma Burras and George Burras, Jr. Maternal grandparents Sylvester and Augustine Harrison Roussell. Aunts, Melvina, Dorothy, Annie Shirley, and Mary Roussell, Rose Roussell Thomas and Verna Roussell Davis. Uncles: Percy, Willie, Sylvester, Jr., August, Elton, Lloyd, Raymond, Marvin, and Ronald Roussell. Morris was a graduate of West Jefferson High School class of 77. Morris was employed by Jefferson Parish Water Department from which he retired after 30 years of service. Relatives and friends of the family, also pastors, officers and members of Evening Star Missionary B.C. and surrounding churches, also employees of the Jefferson Parish Water Department, member of the class of "77"are invited to attend the Funeral Services at D.W. Rhodes Funeral Home, 1020 Virgil Street Gretna, La 70053 on Saturday, July 1, 2023 at 1:00 pm. Visitation will begin at 12:00 pm until 1:00 pm. Rev. Keith P. Stewman, Officiating.
