Grandma, it's always so hard to say goodbye but I thank the LORD for allowing you to be such a powerful motivational force in my life. When you passed away it took a great deal to cope with not only your loss but my father's as well. I am able to move forward as I realize that you are in HEAVEN with Grandpa Eugene and your parents and my dad is sitting along with you with his parents watching your children, grandchildren, and great-grandchildren live out their dreams.
I love you grandma and I will forever cherish those heart-felt moments that we shared together.

Grandma, I still can't believe you're gone. I think about you everyday and how we would spend hours and hours under the carport talking every Sunday. I'm sadden that you were not here to meet my beautiful son, although I know you met him long before I did. I can't wait to see your smiling face again in heaven. I love and miss you sooo very much.

Mommy,
Thanksgiving day without you was very hard to bear. I know what the holidays meant to you. I remember last Thanksgiving when you took your first visit back to New Orleans following the hurricane, you said you loved Texas and that you would not be returning home to New Orleans to live. You stated your next return trip would be to bury you. Little did we know how true this would be. It has been 4 lonely months since you were laid to rest. Thanksgiving Day was all that you would have desired it to be, your children together, lots of good food, and precious memories of how it use to be with our darling mother! Sadly missed by your daughter Shirley...Rest in peace.

In the beginning, you were created by God to be good and you were up until the time God called you home. God etched a purpose into your being which was so strong, understanding and patient. You gave unconditional love to everyone who entered your life including me. I remember a conversation we shared, you told me “that you can’t fault who you love”. This statement has stuck with me. I’m going to truly miss playing Tripoley with you, when you would win all the money and then you will always go to bed. I know you will be one of God's Angels. You will be truly missed and I love you!

I have always found pleasure in seeing my grandmother seated at the kitchen table reading her bible. She was an advid reader and strong in her faith. Her deligence and commitment to establishing a strong family foundation has inspired and motivated me to do the same in my life. Despite the current situation, I know that she is resting peacefully and seated at the right hand of the father in heaven.
