Nicholas Chappetta Obituary

CHAPPETTA Nicholas Francis Chappetta Jr. crossed that Finish Line and went home to be with our Lord on May 26, 2013. Married for 43+ years to his high school sweetheart Ruby (Judy), he was a 1969 graduate of Slidell High School. He worked for Owens-Illinois for over 35 years, retiring as a plant superintendent. One of his greatest qualities in life was his ability to always be aware of those in need. He would always find a way to help by providing whatever he could. The joys in his life included coaching his children, LSU football, playing golf, and being an active member of the Knights of Columbus. He is survived by his wife Ruby (Judy), daughter Judy (Eric) Morgan, son Nicholas III (Brooke) Chappetta, and his grandchildren Jackson, Cade, Courtnee, Callee, Cloee, and Canton. He will be loved and greatly missed by his mother Margaret Chappetta, siblings Lloyd (Gina) Chappetta, Karen (Rodney) Davidson, Norman Chappetta, Angela (Tom) Godin, Tommy (Donnis) Chappetta, and many beloved nieces and nephews. He was blessed to have had such loving relationships with his In-laws Joseph Klobas, Ronald (Linda) Klobas, and Bobby Klobas. He is preceded in death by his father Nicholas Francis Chappetta Sr., and his sister Lucy Coulon. Family and friends are invited to join in services Saturday, June 1 at St. Genevieve Church, 58203 Hwy 433, Slidell, LA 70460, (985) 643-3832. A visitation hour will begin at 10 AM, with an 11 AM Catholic Mass to follow. A reception will then be held at the Knights of Columbus Hall, 1578 W Hall Ave., Slidell, LA from 1 PM - 4 PM. Donations can be made in lieu of flowers to either the ASPCA or The Knights of Columbus. Please come for a cold beer and a bite to eat...And dress casually and comfortably to celebrate his life with us. These are his wishes. And "Nick" will "see you when he sees you".

I miss my Dad. I rejoice knowing he is no longer suffering with pain and illness that exceeded treatment. I am thankful for the wonderful memories that fill my mind and heart when I ache to speak with him. I know he is here with us. Dad...Thank you for being the Poppa that you were to Jack. You showered him with a love and a patience that will never be forgotten. We promise to keep you alive in his memory and heart, and we will continue to make your "perfected pancakes" for him. You lived an understated life. And I have learned more from you than you ever knew...Until now. I'll save a seat for you right next to me on every single college football Gameday. No matter where I am, you will be forever in my heart. Love, JuJu.

Sorry to hear of Nicks passing, I only knew Nick through work at the Portland Plant. He did have a quick wit and good sense of humor. He was there to always help, and you could ask him questions about the glass manufacturing part of bottle making and he would always give you a streight answer. It was fun to play golf with him, and sit and shoot the bull about different subjects. Rest in peace Nick.
