Octave Courrege Obituary

Octave Martin Courrege Jr., lovingly known by all who knew him as "Boopie" passed away peacefully on January 16, 2019 at the age of 82. He was married to the love of his life, Lynn Ann Bianchini Courrege, who pre-deceased him in March of 2018. Boopie never knew a stranger! He was loving, kind, generous and volunteered every chance he could get. He was always ready for a party, Mardi Gras parade or crawfish boil. He loved Mardi Gras so much that he was King of Venus, Captain of Hades/Heralds and a krewe member of Zeus. He regularly dressed as Santa each Christmas for his children and grandchildren. He loved a good high ball & poboy, was a true New Orleanian & Saints fan! Boopie proudly served in the U.S. Marine Corps. He was an active member of the Knights of Columbus and the Elks Lodge. He was most proud of being a graduate of St. Aloysius and the lifelong friends he met there. He retired from Stewart Enterprise after a 37 year career. Boopie never missed a chance to spend time with his family, especially his grandchildren. He never missed a recital, play or sporting event. Always his grandchildren's number one fan! He loved them with all his heart. He was so proud of each and every one of his grandchildren. He will be forever missed by his children Holli (Kolmon), Heather (Kerry), Chad (Paige). Mourning the loss of their "Pops" are Sheri, Sara, (Matt), Justin (Kristen), Austin, James, Logan, Hayden, Madison & Grace. Great Granddaughters, Olive, Libby & Rose. Niece and nephew, Gina & Glenn and his loving sister & brother in law, Merrillyn and Leonce. In lieu of flowers, please make donations to: Jefferson Council on Aging, Metairie Senior Center, 265 N. Mr. Boopie was one of the greatest men in my life. I loved him so much and it is hard to say goodbye. Everyone that knew him was better for it. If he was not in my life along with Chad, Heather and Hollie as I grew up, there is no telling where I would be. I know that words do no justice to just how great a man he was. Love you guys and I hope Mr. Boopie is in heaven now with Miss Lynn and is just smiling from ear to ear !!!! He was a special man, beyond compare !!!

I was extremely saddened to learn of the death of such a friendly and kind man. I know that he greatly loved and adored his wife, Lynn, who was his best friend and constant companion. They really seemed to enjoy each other's company and showed how wonderful love and marriage could be. He was, also, a very loving son-in-law to Lynn's wonderful mother during her life. I have already prayed for strength for Lynn and the family and, further, pray that Mr. Courrege is with God and all his loved ones in heaven.

Mr Boopie, there's no words 2 express how much I'll miss u. The short time we knew each other is time I'll forever treasure. In your own modest way u showed me unconditional love and respect. This was also refelcted in the way you and Ms Lynn raised your family. I also was lucky enough to see that in their children. Your a tuff act 2 follow.
