Olive May (Stone Phillips) Hutchison

June 30, 1921 -
December 31, 2018

Born in Inspiration AZ. to Alpha and Will Stone. Later moving to Waldron, AR where she married James Phillips and had three daughters; Dora Rosenthal, Helen (Earle) Hunter and Margie Whitaker. Olive worked as a welder at an Oakland CA shipyard in WWII. after which she and her family moved to Yolo, CA. In 1953, they moved to Springfield, OR. Olive worked for the local hospital, Chet Foods and the UO. After James died in 1978, Olive married Eugene Hutchison in 1981 who she praised until his death in 1999. Olive is survived by her daughters Dora and Margie, step-daughter Sharon Munyon, step-son Don Munyon, granddaughters Andrea Thomas and Carey Coffman, son-in-law Eldon Hunter, great-granddaughters Sara Alvarez and Lexi Benz, grandson Tom Earle, and best friend Ella Slaughter.

Olive was an avid gardener and well-known for her garden and yard on Centennial Blvd. She grew flowers and vegetables which she shared with friends and neighbors.

Olive was a member of Trinity Baptist Church on 12th and B in Springfield where her service will be on 1/19/2019 at 11:00 am.

Family thanks to signature hospice for all their care.

Dear Sharon and family,

Thinking of you. I don't believe I met Olive but I have fond memories of Gene and his tolerance of a "hippie" logger in his home! I'm glad he found a second chance at happiness, as it sounds she did.
