Otis Jackson Jr. Obituary

Otis Ray Jackson, Jr. was born on February 18, 1954 in New Orleans, Louisiana to the late Otis Ray Jackson, Sr. and Camille Jackson of Natchez, Mississippi. He gave his life to Christ at an early age at The Church of the Lord Jesus Christ of the Apostles' Doctrine in New Orleans. Otis was the husband of Mary Sims Jackson for 51 years, and to this union three children were born, Keshon Jackson, Otis Ray Jackson, III, and Martina Jackson. He was also the grandfather of five grandchildren; Kayla Jackson, Cunellus Floyd, Jr., Otis Ray Jackson, IV, Tamiera Jackson, and Cahya Floyd. Otis was a long-time member of The Word of Life Apostolic Church, which is an Outreach of The Church of the Lord Jesus Christ of the Apostles' Doctrine. He served faithfully as a dedicated deacon and later as a minister. He served on the Church Executive Board as Vice President and First Assistant to the Pastor. Otis was ordained as a deacon on August 31, 2014 and later as a minister. He also oversaw an outreach ministry at Unity One Nursing Home for a number of years. Otis is a graduate from Booker T. Washington High School. He was a dedicated long-term employee of Chisesi Brothers Meat Packing Company for 35 years where he served as Plant Manager. Otis was preceded in death by his parents Otis Ray Jackson, Sr. and Camille Jackson; two sisters, Ray Ann (Lonnell) Williams and Yvonne Jackson; four sisters-in-law; and five brothers-in-law. He leaves to cherish his memories his devoted wife Mary Sims Jackson; three children and one daughter-in-law, Keshon Jackson of New Orleans, Louisiana; Otis R. (Tyra) Jackson, III of Aledo, Texas, and Martina Jackson of New Orleans, Louisiana; five grandchildren, Kayla Jackson, Cunellus Floyd, Jr., Otis Ray Jackson, IV, Tamiera Jackson, and Cahya Floyd; four brothers and four sisters-in-law, Jerry (Andrea) Jackson, Sr., Bishop Johnnie E. (Marion) Jackson, Sr., Melvin (Marilyn) Jackson, all of New Orleans, Louisiana, and Calvin (Angela) Jackson, Sr. of Houston, Texas; three sisters and three brothers-in-law, Elouise (Eugene) Clark and Barbara (Cedric) Maurice, all of Houston, Texas, and Brender (Herbert) Bell of New Orleans, Louisiana; and a host of aunts, uncles, nieces, nephews, cousins, and friends Relatives and friends of the family are invited to attend a Funeral Service at Greater St. Andrews Baptist Church, 7000 Earhart Blv.
