Paul "Tommy" Bon

Paul Bon Obituary

BON Paul "Tommy" Bon, a resident of Lake Worth, FL, passed away peacefully on Thursday, May 19, 2011 in Boynton Beach, FL at the age of 88. Tommy learned to work hard, laugh with ease and extend a hand of help to anybody in need. He attended Delgado Community College to learn the trade of aircraft construction and maintenance. Mr. Bon served in the 20th Air Force during WW II as a crew chief working on B-29s. Stationed on Tinian Island, he was a member of the 680th Bomb Squadron, 504th Bomb Group. In 1949, Tommy met Maxine Hammer and would tell all he "fell head over heels". They married in 1950 and recently celebrated their 60th wedding anniversary. Most importantly, Tommy cherished his family and friends above all. He was a wonderful cook, host and friend and will be remembered for his humor, generosity and humility. Survivors include his loving wife, Maxine Hammer Bon; three children: Charles Bon of Lake Worth, FL, Francesca Bon of Delray Beach, FL, and Stella (Jim) Garrison of Atlanta, GA; grandson, Michael Garrison and a host of nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his parents: Charles and Stella Bon; his infant son, Gerald; and his sisters: Ponny Conomos, Mary Kontaxis, and Aphrodite "Dita" Venturatos. The Bon family will receive their friends from 5:00 PM until 7:00 PM on Sunday, May 22nd, 2011 at the funeral home. A Funeral Service will be held at 10:00 AM on Monday, May, 23rd at St. Catherine Greek Orthodox Church, 110 Southern Blvd., West Palm Beach, FL. I'll never forget Tommy; his wit (he was fun to be around), his generosity and his loyalty to friends. He taught me how to eat a steak (with lemon juice on top). He said it was the Greek way so now I eat my steaks that way.
May his loving family be blessed for having had Tommy in their lives. RIP, dear friend. You will not be forgotten.
