Paul Marshall Obituary

MARSHALL Paul Charles Marshall, Jr. Paul, also known to his family as "Junior" was born on May 25, 1926 in Lutcher, Louisiana, to Paul and Estella Marshall. He served our country in the Pacific Theater during World War II and in the Korean War and went on to retire from the U.S. Air Force in 1965. In 1981, he retired from the Federal Civil Service at the Fuel Department on the Naval Submarine Base in San Diego, California. He was an inspiration to his four daughters and two sons, three of whom went on to military service. In 1972 he moved to San Diego, CA, where he attended St. Catherine Laboure Catholic Church. On September 18, 2010, at the age of 84 years, he crossed over into the Kingdom of Heaven after fighting cancer for four years and as he said, being "loved to death" by his six children and friends and caregivers: George and Aida Firman. He is survived by his sisters: Verdean Clements, Audrey Davis and Cleo Eugene; his brothers: Lavrence Marshall and Floyd Marshall, Sr.; his six children: Yolanda Marshall Tisdale, Paul Marshall III, Wanda Marshall Winkler, Diane Marshall, Andre Marshall and Paula Marshall and their spouses: Raphael, Rita, Wesley, John, and Susan respectively; his five grandchidlren: Life Marshall, Andrea Marshall, Isaac Marshall, Eric Marshall and Matthew Marshall; his two great-grandchildren: Kade Charles Valentine Marshall and Alexandria Rhealise Marshall; and quite possibly hundreds of friends. He was a private pilot for more than forty years and enjoyed working crossword puzzles. Anyone who has ever known Paul, knows that he loved to laugh and to dance. His favorite mantra as "dance while you can". We smile knowing now that as he crossed over, he danced in his new body past Saint Peter and through the pearly gates. A Memorial Celebration will be hled in San Diego, CA in the near future. His Funeral Services will be held in Paulina, Louisiana on Saturday, September 25, 2010 at St. Josephs Catholic Church. Viewing from 9:00 a.m. until services at 11:00 a.m. Conducted by the Rev. Mark Beard. Entomement in the Church Mausoleum. In lieu of flowers, please honor Paul as a veteran by making a donation to U.S. Vets in his name, 800 W. 6th Street, Suite 1505, Los Angeles, CA 90017, www.usvetsine.org. "Smiling Paul"
You will be missed my dear by many !
I first met Paul at a happy hour at the 94th Aerosquadron, then started going to Darlena's Tuesday dances there... he was a joy to be around and always made you smile. He always talked about his children and how proud he was of all of them. To the Marshal Family, you were blessed with a beloved father - the wonderful memories you have of him will sustain you for the rest of your lives. God Bless all of of you, Sue Wilson (Pasadena Maryland)
