Paul Riviere Obituary

Paul E. Riviere, Jr. passed away on Saturday evening, December 24, 2016. Age 74, he was a lifelong resident of Metairie, La. Preceded in death by his parents Paul E. Riviere, Sr. and Florence Scharfenstein Riviere. Devoted grandson of the late Rev. Leslie Scharfenstein, Florence M. Scharfenstein; Edwin Riviere, H. Inez W. Riviere. Beloved husband, survived by his wife of 53 years and childhood sweetheart since third grade, Carolyn Campbell Riviere. His children, Christen Riviere; Paul "Trey" Riviere, III (Sophia Leblanc Riviere); Aimee Riviere and Ashley Riviere. Seven grandchildren, Paul "Peri" Riviere, IV; Sarah Riviere; Charlotte Riviere; Luke Ladner; Tanner Burgess, Hunter Burgess; and John Michael Thomas. His sister Ann Riviere Morrison. Also survived by many brothers and sisters in law, numerous nieces and nephews, and longtime friends. He attended Sam Barthe School and graduated from De La Sale High School in 1960 where he was on the football, basketball and track team. He attended LSU and was a member of Sigma Chi fraternity. He was an owner and operator of Paul E. Riviere, Inc. and Cimsco, Inc. until his death. A longtime parishioner of St. Francis Xavier Church where he was a Eucharistic Minister and Charter Member of the Msgr. H. Bezou Chapter No. 8546 of the Knights of Columbus. He attended Manresa Retreat House every April of his adult life. He loved and was an avid sailor, a member of the Corinthian's Sailing Assoc., until his death he enjoyed watching the boats and races on Lake Ponchatrain. He loved spending time with family and friends in Gulf Shores, AL. Devoted to his wife, children, grandchildren, his entire extended family and dogs. Relatives and friends are invited to the Funeral Mass at St. Frances Xavier Church on Friday, December 30, 2016 at 12:00 noon. Visitation will be held at St. Francis Xavier Church on Friday from 10:00 am until noon. Interment will be at Metairie Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, Masses or Donation to the Helping Hands Outreach at St. Frances Xavier Church are preferred.
